Interesting how the SOX offense exploded immediately after shutting down Devers.

Can't help but wonder where the SOX might be record wise if he'd been shut down a couple of weeks ago?

Well, it's all 2nd guessing at this point.

There are several moves they should have made weeks ago

As a rookie Rafaela is 2nd in the AL in hits and 1st in RBI. Why don't you cut him some slack.

When was his last BB? He has no clue where the K zone is. He’s basically useless with a bat in his hands. No credit for where he stands among rookies. He’s JBJ reincarnated.

To the drinking fountain?

Do you know when his last BB was offhand? Or his OBP? Or his K/BB ratio? If those don’t improve he needs to go.

JBJ was pretty damn good for several years, and not just on defense.

2015-2020 (6 year stretch;) 101 OPS+ and a GG Award.

Yes, and I also know his age, his defensive skills and how players often improve as they approach prime years.

I'm also not one to only see the bad in every single player and aspect of my team.

Yup

i guess you’d have to say Rafaela is worse than Bradley. At least JBJ had some good streaks with a bat. Rafaela looks completely lost at the plate. I don’t see that becoming at an acceptable level.

Fred has no concept about the importance of defense. But he will bitch about errors.

Not am I! I’m a realist. As I’ve written here many times there is a good nucleus of young players on the team but without a helluva lot of better pitching the team will continue to suck.

Good defense is mandatory. As is being able to hit the baseball

Long long time

Yup. So what? Nobody ever expected him to walk much.

He needs to improve in some areas or excell even more in areas he is already good in to become a net plus player. He just turned 25, last week.

He has a +2.7 bWAR (4th best on the Sox)

0.9 fWAR ranks 8th, but feel free to pick on the non worst player on the team, during his first full year in MLB.

Fred would have also hated Paul Blair of the 60's and 70's Orioles.

Those figures are proof that stats aren’t everything. Bradley was a pleasure to watch in the OF too. He rightfully got jettisoned when he started to suck with a bat in his hands.

Hey-I hope Rafaela reaches the level of “acceptable” offensively. He’s not there. He’s not even close.

I don’t care about Blair. He was never on the Sox.
