After two good starts vs TEX and BAL, he had a bit of a stinker against ARI. We'll see if he can turn it around.

At the TDL the SOX FO acquired 4 pitchers. Let's see their status as of today.

Sims--15 day IL

Sgt Garcia--15 day IL

Paxton--60 day IL

The 4th guy--at WOO where after 4 appearances has an ERA around 8.00.

The good news is the non-pitcher, Jansen, is ranked near the top in blocking pitches.

All-in-all, a wonderful job by Breslow.

Alex Cobb - IL

Lorenzen - IL

Rogers - 7.11 ERA (expensive trade)

Flaherty, Kikuchi and Eflin have been good, but I have no idea if the Sox were willing to give up the prospects that were given up in those deals. They let a lot of Rule 5 guys go and got a high ceiling guy back in Priester. Priester was shelled the first time out, but seems to have pitched better as of late as he's adjusting to the Sox pitching philosophy.

Btw, interesting enough, but not surprising because we've all seen it,  Wong is at the absolute bottom in blocking pitches.

Thank goodness this isn't Duran's contract year. The odds are he would be with the Dodgers next season.

Sox are wasting his career year.

Bello still dealing. Where has this guy been?

He definitely has the talent to be a very good pitcher. He has to improve his composure when things start going south on him.

Wacha let up a 5 spot, as KC lost to CLE 7-5.

MIN is down 1-0 to ATL in the 4th.

NYY down 5-2 to WSH

BAL plays at LAD, tonight.

Up to his last start, Bello had gone 7 straight starts with 3 or less ERs allowed.

3.57 ERA, but a 4.81 FIP in 40.1 IP.

The team has gone 16-8 in his starts, due to some great run support.

Lineup is really let Bello down tonight.  Just awful.  But especially here in the 7th when the first two betters hit singles, followed by a horrible pop-up bunt by Gonzalez and of course still another K by Rafaela.

Rafaela is pathetic with a bat

JBJ all over again

2015-2020, JBJ's average OPS was .770.  He was better than Rafaela.  But Cora needs Rafaela because he's the best SS on the team--and I frankly don't care that he's probably the best centerfielder because Duran is doing just fine out there and anyone can play left field at the Fens.

Bello’s longest career start. He had never pitched over 7.0 before.

He looks great out there tonight!  A few of us--but not me--wanted him to go back to Worcester to "learn how to pitch," and they were just wrong.   moonslav provided the stats to show us why.

Tonight the problem is the lineup, who can't score runs.
