Pivetta vs Stone(RH)

The symbolic 2nd half of the season starts tonight for the SOX. Based on win %, the SOX have the toughest remaining schedule in MLB.

Starting the 2nd half of the season on the worst coast(baseball speak regarding the SOX) does add to the challenge.

Congrats to Duran for being the All-star MVP.

Go SOX!

Big series against a team that’s been struggling. This is a big west coast trip before coming back to face the Yankees.

The race is on with 67 to play. Next 10 before the 7/30 trade deadline includes 3 in Dodgertown , 3 in Mile high, then Yankees for 3 at Fenway, finishing these 10 with Mariners at home. These 10 can be definitive guides for Breslow to make a move or three.

Interesting challenges coming up. Can the pitchers each make another 13 starts , including Criswell or an Opener ? Can Casas make a strong return ? Can O'Neill get streaky good with the bat for awhile? Does Grissom still exist, who cares ? Will any trade maneuvers upset the clubhouse ?

Will Simon & Garfunkel ever get back together?

Another starter who may be on the SOX radar is the Angels' lefty Tyler Anderson. He's 33 years old but has an 8-8 record with an ERA of 2.97 and a 1.17 WHIP.

The problem is that half of MLB teams are looking for a starter, so the sellers will be overvaluing their tradable pitching. I'm guessing that the SOX would have to include in the trade one of their top 3 prospects.

Erick Fedde of the White Sox is also obtainable, but he would probably require even more prospects because his bargain contract runs thru 2025.

The idiots of Anaheim rarely make a smart move, so Tyler Anderson might be bought with an annual pass to Disneyland just up the Katella Street. But for once the Sox have a number of chips to consider and play the trade with. Yoshida would look good in an Angels uni

SOX have 2 advantages in this game, 1)playing on the road and 2)facing a RH. Hopefully, the 4 days off didn't screw up their momentum.

16 HR's and 31 RBI are, for lack of a better word, ridiculous.

It’s even worse when you dig deeper into it. 22 of his RBIs have come on his 16 home runs (12 of those are solo shots). He’s only driven home 9 runs all year on anything besides a homer. That is mind boggling.

If the SOX weren't so strapped on RH bats, he would be an obvious trading tool.

One big disadvantage; this is the 1st game of a 3 game series.
