Duran may be the best baserunner I have seen in a long time. Nevers will never drive him in though, I truly dislike the guy . His HR Sunday was just a stat padder in a game virtually won.

He now leads MLB in triples with 6 and is the most exciting player on this team.

Where are the posters poo-pooing Devers, earlier?

Well, you asked for it. I like Devers, really. But he does sometimes infuriate me--and tonight is a perfect example of how he craps out with men on base.

Duran led off the game with a double, and Devers popped out to 1b. In the 5th, Duran gets a triple with one out, and Devers strikes out onthe 2d straight slider in the freaking dirt. That, sir, is not the sign of professional hitter. I hasten to add that he asked for a batter's timeout immediately after the 3d pitch, which was the first slider in the dirt and was called a ball. The world can only wonder what Devers said to himself in the brief hiatus before he swung and missed at the second straight slider in the dirt.

Duran is the best baseball player on this team... don't care what anyone says... what stats says. He gets it done.... 40% talent, 60% hustle... and playing every day.

1/13 RISP , that sucks

Now 1/14 but at least that time the ball was ripped. Duvall with a heck of a play.

For an encore Devers K's with the bases loaded in the very next inning, the 6th. He swung and missed at a sweeper, pitch #7, below the strike zone, which of course was exactly the same pitch, a sweeper, he looked at the pitch before when it was called a ball. But for some incredible and perhaps monumentally stupid reason, Devers seems to be unable to take two pitches in a row, both out of the strike zone.

Reference the chatter on Devers.... I really don't mind him... he's an ok ball player... I mind that we are paying him so much for what he is- but not his fault.

Get used to it. He's gonna be here for a while. Get used to it? Damn, you should be used to it by now.

Yup. That's why Charlie Finley, perhaps the smartest owner ever, sold the A's. When he saw free agency coming, he left baseball.

Interesting I did not know that. It is crazy looking at paychecks for Devers, Duran, and Refsynder. Money sure don't get averaged out fairly.
