Definitely. That's why I compared him to Story defensively.

I guessed that Boston would throw Rodriguez again today just to prove a point . Joely did get through the inning with no real damage, got robbed by the HP ump. I would still not let him be #26 for long.

Looks like the opposing pitchers have found Masa's weak spot. Tight inside and he gets himself out. Hopefully, Masa, can start laying off those pitches.

He is a legit defender. I do worry about muscle bound players getting hurt on D.

Nice win for the Visitors , great starting pitching. Could easily have been 4-0, like NYY in Houston . Encouraging in general. Still a few roster moves to make as April rolls in.

Now onto 3 with the A's.. Got to be 2-1 minimum. Could be a rewarding trip West this time.

Short game thread. I guess this game has been a bitter disappointment for the legion of Cora baiters who know so much more than he does.

 

These first four games have astounded me--especially the contrast with the 2019 Sox who started that season 3-8 @ Seattle, @ Oakland, and @ Arizona. And they were coming off the best Sox season ever.

 

The starting pitching has been ridiculously good and kept the Sox in all 4 games. One was lost because the hitters went scoreless, and another when Jansen was unavailable to close and Joely Rodriguez gave up 3 runs, 2 earned.

 

The bullpen has actually been good in 2 of the 4 games (2d and 4th). The defense has been better than last year. The hitting has been a disappointment, but I expect it to get better.

 

Oakland next, tomorrow @ 9:40. Houck starts.
