I know a lot of us don't care any more, but the AL race for the last playoff spots is pretty wild.

 

6 teams make it.

 

In for sure

 

Baltimore 85-58

Tampa Bay 94-60

Minnesota 81-72

 

Contenders for AL West division/Wild Card

 

Toronto 85-68

Houston 85-68

Seattle 84-68

Texas 84-68

 

Is that tight enough? 3 of the 4 will make it, 1 can start booking tee times.

What happened to supposedly the Red Sox playing an easier schedule this year, because they wouldn’t have to play against the Div teams as much? I guess it wasn’t easier enough.

Indeed, we may end up with less wins than 2022, despite not having to play as many games vs ALE teams.

 

I still think playing an easier schedule usually helps, but obviously not always.

 

What a difference one season makes in one aspect but hardly any when comparing overall records between 2022 and 2023:

Maybe they schedule was easier, but the team was worse.

BAL has 1 @ CLE, then comes home for 2 v WSH & 4 v BOS

TBR has 1 v TOR, then 2 @ BOS & 3 @ TOR

 

BAL certainly has the easier schedule.
