Immediately after that at bat, Story had words and then Cora had more words and got thrown out. Plus don't forget that pitch by Pivetta in the middle of the strike zone (2 innings ago?) which was called a ball.

 

This ump has in fact kept the Yankees in the game with his one-sided calls.

The 3d strike called against Judge was exactly where Schreiber had thrown a pitch called a ball against McKinney.

He swung at 3 pitches out of the zone, not one. While it's possible one or more would have been called strikes, we don't know that. Don't forget this same ump has called balls when the pitchers were inside the strikes zone.

Wink certainly does not have great numbers. His ERA seems like smoke and mirrors, when you look at his OPS Against (.757) and WHIP (1.407,) but let's see how he ends up comparing to Nipper's career.

 

His numbers are similar to what Nipper did at 25.
