Phillies vs Padres in the NLCS. Who would have thought that!? Wow!

Phillies are playing great but i like the Padres to win this series. They have taken out two juggernauts already.

My anti- playoffs-are-a-crapshoot philosophy is taking a beating.

I do still think the 'Stros win it all, but who knows?

My theory now is that there are about 50% crapshoot years and 50% non-crapshoot years LOL

These best of 5 series are definitely conducive to crapshoots. Even the best teams will lose 3 games in a row during the regular season.

But what about the best of three all in one park?

Three out of four series went to visiting teams?

Doesn't surprise me at all. A 2 out of 3 is an ultra-crapshoot no matter what park is being played in.

The five game series certainly add to it.

The five game series has been around a while though. In all of the Red Sox 4 titles they had to get through a best of fiver.

Yes. The 7 game series should produce the better team winning, more often, but this year, we have two long shots vs each other, so one is going to the big dance.

I gotta say, I love seeing the Dodgers ousted. They have become the mega-spending team the Yanks were once viewed as.

It was nice seeing Philly advance, but I still like the way the Braves run their system more.

Now, go Guardians! Go Tito!

1985 was the first time the ALCS was a best of 7 and NOT a best of 5.

Had it still been a best of seven in 1986, Dave Henderson never hits that home run and the Angels face the Mets…

Right, there was just one stretch from 1985 to 1993 where all the series were best of 7.

Any short series is a crapshoot. That should be obvious to anyone. But it also comes down to the manager's decisions and the quality of the bullpen. Josh Hader, as opposed to a Clarke Schmidt for example, is definitely not a crapshoot.

Astros should have been swept in that series. Verlander got shelled and the M’s tried to close the game with a starter who’d been struggling against the hottest hitter on the planet. Game 2, they didn’t learn their lesson and went after the same hot hitter and got burned again. Game 3, they’re home in an extra inning game and get 9 innings of walk off chances and don’t scratch out a single run?

Hey, the Mariners probably posted a Pythagorean record of 1-2 after being outscored only 13-9 in a three-game series.;););)

Believe it or not, I thought the Mariners were the worst matchup for the Yanks. They hammered us late in the year with Castillo who entirely owns NY. Gilbert also was very good against NY and Kirby is just nasty.

The Astros can be beaten, but gotta win tonight to make that matchup happen. The only problem is the Yanks have Aaron Boone as an anchor they need to carry through these playoffs. Any time the Yanks need to rely on their manager to make the right move, we usually lose out. Especially now that there appears to be no hierarchy in the pen

Why is there no hierarchy? The only trustworthy guys left are Holmes and Peralta followed by Loaisiga and Trivino.

Will Holmes and Peralta be available tonight is the question.

I want Tito's team to go all the way. That they will beat the Yanks tonite is sweet.

Love tito but he has been outmanaged by aaron bleeping boone these last two games. Embarrassing Tito. Starting civale basically said you have no chance today.

Francona was more like francoma today. He really screwed this game right from the start. He needs to hope his team can make this interesting or they will question the move.

You really put a lot of blame on managers.

Gotta play the old hits once in a while I guess...

You think starting civale was the right move? You can’t stand Bieber and let him pitch at least 4 innings?

Posted
Many Red Sox fans detest him, and we all understand why, but Machado looks like he was actually worth a 10 year, $300 million contract.

Well yeah. He's the reason Pedroias career was over

I honestly don't know. Tito had a lot more information than we did.

I don't just assume Bieber was ready to go.
