J. Springs vs R. Hill

Let's win today and clinch a very, very rare AL East series win. And scoring 9 runs again today wouldn't hurt.

Go SOX!

The last 3-game series against the Yankees in which the Sox won 2 games to 1 represents their ONLY series win against an AL East team to date this season…

Didn't that one game series count?

I know- I know- a series means 2 or more...

Does the climb back start today ? here's the test indicator-- men on 2nd/3rd, no outs in the first---do they score or not??

Dugo is just a damn good hitter and the SOX FO might be wise to make sure he stays in Boston for a while.

OK, that's it. I've had it. Where do you come off wanting to keep a guy Bloom cut a deal for when the consensus on talksox is that Bloom is clueless in Seattle.

Plus this. Dugo will never be as good as Mookie, and that's why Bloom is dumb as a post. He should have kept Mookie.

90 wins should get an AL team in the final spot for the PO's. The SOX would have to finish the season 29-7 including this game. That may be a mountain too high to climb.

It definitely is, but I kind of like to see those numbers--something to shoot for.

I also like your enthusiasm today.

Forget Mookie, he is tearing up the NL now. I agree with Splendid that Dugo should be one of the 2023 OF'ers. Kike, not so much. he will cost $8-$9 million for a utility guy.

Dalbec comes through swinging out of the zone but poking a 2 rbi single to cement the first inning. BTW, where is Hosmer ? Not on injury list. Is he on non-IL rest with a sore back?

He's on the 10 day IL that started on Tuesday.

Story back in the lineup today. Duran optioned.

Going to interesting to see what two guys they bring up Thursday when rosters expand.

Remember, every team has to have a 28 man roster, no more, no less.

Glad you are paying attention. I did not see that. Another key addition to the Sox never ending IL.

You said outfield?????? Dugo's DWAR this year is -1.1 and consequently his overall WAR is just 0.5. Kike ain't hitting this year but his career OPS is .736 compared to Dugo's .773. And Kike is an excellent outfielder. His WAR this year is 0.2 (in half as many games as Dugo).

So, me, I'd keep both, put Kike in the outfield and Dugo as the DH.

Based on Cora's comments about Duran's work needs with WooSox, recalls would not include Duran. Cora says he needs tro play and that isn't too likely with Kike playing CF. But see what Bloom says. i think you will see 2 pitchers ready for the BP

Hill really messing with the "patient/timewasting" Rays. Rich probably throwing a no-no today

Love that. Hill is usually all business on the mound. So was Bello in his last start.

Dugo should be in LF, but Pham is currently in the way. He's too early in his career to be DH'ing. It's for old guys with slow bats

Since being traded to Boston, Pham leads MLB in average exit velocity.

You mean getting out of the clubhouse after a game?

Posted
Yes

Actually, I was impressed with last night's win and the 1 run losses the two nights before, both in the 10th inning and both because the Sox couldn't score in either 10th inning.

I even said so and was greeted with stunned silence.

How can you be impressed with dropping two winnable games for failure to make contact with a pitched ball in critical situations? You probably heard silence because no one else was impressed.

It might depend on the health of Hosmer, Nate and Houck.

If Hosmer looks far away, maybe we call up Casas, but the way Cordero & Dalbec seem to be showing signs of life, maybe not.

I'd like to see Wong called up, but if he doesn't play, why? (We could make room for another player by DFA'ing Plawecki. I doubt he re-signed for 2023, anyway, but he might be a good guy to keep around to help McGuire get acclimated to "the Sox way.")

I'd also like to see German called up, but it will probably be Wink, Ort or Nate, Danish or Houck activated.

We could see E Valdez, but where would he play, now that Story is back and Arroyo is on fire? DH? (We aren't benching JD.) Also, Valdez has been in a mini slump.

If I had to guess two, assuming nobody comes off the IL, soon, it would be Wong and Wink.
