For Sears, Waldichuk, Medina and Cooper Bowman

Trivino is awful. Hate to lose waldichuck and sears but you gotta give to get. Hopefully Montas' shoulder is ok.

Cue moon and bellhop cheering that the Yanks "gutted their system" as their team wallows in the cellar and their farm isn't all that exciting.....

Thing is Sox had to sacrifice the farm for 4 rings in the last 20 years.

It will be restored.

They didn’t gut their system at all, that’s the crazy thing.

Trivino has a better xFIP this year than he did last year. His babip is .451 and his HR/FB rate is 20%. He’s got top end stuff. He’s got experience. He’s a guy you let steep in the middle innings to see if he finds himself.

Montas is a true front of the rotation pitcher who I have my concerns about. Mostly due to his prior place of residence and how you can pitch pretty aggressively in the coliseum. Not so much in Yankee stadium.

In terms of who we gave up….

Sears was our 17th ranked prospect coming into the season who really blossomed into a strike throwing starter who will likely slot directly into Montas’ spot. Waldichuk is the best prospect here and will also likely slide into a starter’s role. Waldichuk doesn’t throw strikes as well as Sears, though, and May end up a multi inning weapon out of the pen. Medina was an obvious trade candidate this year since he’s out of options in 2023 and has been only reasonably good in AA. Bowman is a project with lots of swing and miss but speed for days, developing power and the hands to stay at 2b.

Overall, the Yanks had to go for it. They kept their top 2 prospects and they still added one legit pen arm, another legit historically guy having a weird season in Trivino and a front of the rotation starter in Montas

Or not......

I disagree, he is what the back of baseball card says he is, a struggling bullpen arm with a career ERA north of 4.00 and a career WHIP of 1.34

His BABIPA is over .450. That’s just fluky and unsustainable, even if Oakland’s defense is horrible…

He’s had three excellent seasons and two stinkers. He’s a good buy low candidate

We didn't exactly "buy low".

We bought him low. If he was pitching like he was in 2021, no way we get him

K/9 is up.

B/9 is down

Fastball velocity is equal.

FIP roughly equal

He has allowed a couple more home runs, but other than that he is pitching better than in 2021. But the team behind him appears to be substantially worse defensively (which was to be expected when they dealt Chapman and Olson).

If a pitcher’s biggest weakness is his teammates’ play, he is a very good get…

He was a salary dump by the A's, we didn't buy low.

If they want to, they will. Even s***** teams do it.

Well, yes, eventually.

But it remains to be seen if it will happen on hang 'em chaim's watch......

Bad trade for the Yankees--Montas isn't healthy and Waldichuk is a future stud. Wow, Cashman is really desperate.

And you know this after reviewing his medicals?

My guess is that the A's didn't have much interest in average Yankees prospects like Volope and Peraza. The A's really like Max Muncy and see him as the future at SS. Waldichuk is now the best pitching prospect in the A's system, they needed to find a guy who profiles as a future ace. Nice job by the A's. Medina is interesting, he can hit over 100 on the gun, but he is a bit of a lotto ticket as a SP. He might profile best as a relief pitcher and has the ability to be a dominant one.

Cashman is just so desperate to win a championship this year that he took a big gamble on a guy who recently experienced shoulder issues. Montas is a shoulder injury waiting to happen.

The Yanks got better with this and other trades, but their future was hurt.

I must have suggested dozens of Montas Trivino trades to the Sox on BTV.

I guess it makes more sense for a PED guy to join the Yanks.

And for a guy who got caught choking the chicken in public to join the sox.

Not to mention that other stand up teammate pham. SMH......

Montas has started 13 times against the astros since the beginning of the 2018 season and in 11 held houston to two or fewer runs. In the last seven, he had a 2.70 ERA in 36 ²/₃ innings with 11 walks and 42 strikeouts.

You are literally the second dumbest poster on this site. Nobody beats Stork, but you're a somewhat distant second

Waldichuk has an amazing 13.72 strikeout rate per nine this year and is a true 4-pitch pitcher.

Cashman is desperate and dealing a top SP prospect for a guy with a barking shoulder demonstrated that. I think Cashman should have kept Walichuk and traded for J.Quintana instead.

Just imagine this trade by taking out Waldichuk and putting in Peraza. Would the A's have made that deal? Of course not.
