Big rookie mistake by Duran. If he would just copy Verdugo, he would have known to stand at the plate and watch that ball awhile to see it was a dinger--and then trot down to first base.

Won’t matter, Sox won’t get him in anyway.

Vazquez with a sweet K with a man on 3d base and one out. But Mr. DH (his best position) Verdugo drives Duran home with a solid single.

Of course, Bogey follows it up with 3 pathetic swings to end the inning.

Bogey has had a good defensive game--heck, a good defensive season. Hitting lags, but who needs a good hitting SS when they can get the real things, a steady, not too flashy guy who can get the big single now and then? Well, maybe not big singles in terms of driving runs in.

I don't see Boston based media, but would be interested to hear Bloom's comments, if any, after this weekend.

Doesn't matter too much but another fundamental was sanchez's positioning to receive Duran's nice throw. Yes, the ball was a little on the 1B side but Sanchez was 6'+ off the bag. Would have been a tough play, but makeable

Can’t blame Sanchez on the Red Sox system; he’s played 7 years with the White Sox, including at least 3 of those as a regular.

No doubt how important Ortiz was to the SOX turning it all around, but I did hear a voice that sounded like Manny saying "but I helped."

Just a couple of "Z" boys swinging away and hitting the ball hard

The SOX had another couple of 'Z' boys who could hit a little; YAZ and Ted Williamz.

Yes, Splinter pointed out yesterday that Sanchez is a vet. I didn't call it a rookie or sysstem mistake, but his own fundamental positioning prevented a potential play.

In fact, during one season with the White Sox Sanchez won the Gold Glove at 2nd.

There won’t be any; for one thing, he can’t tip his hand one way or another.

Sawamura was the wrong choice at the time, AC . And you stayed with him a bit too long. This game would be more winnable if it was 5 or 6 to 4, instead of 8.
