Brandon Drury and Mike Conforto feel like Bloom guys that would help this team .

Both players are upgrades over what we have if Drury plays 1b RF ? ? Both players would do well at Fenway .Maybe Trade Duran or Verdugo to cincy for Drury and Pitching ? Keep X and make one last run at this . Edited by Swiharts Ghost

Ah yes. More 'Bloom guys'. Just what this team needs. Once Devers, Bogaerts, JD, Eovaldi, Sale, and a few others are gone, we'll see a lot more consistency from the RS

What is a "Bloom guy?"

Drury has had a bounce back year, but has sucked whenever he's had to play in a big market and can't play in TOR. Pass.

Conforto hasn't taken one swing in anger this season and can't play in TOR. Pass.

Are you trying to corner the market on white guys that can't play in TOR?

Conforto will look to sign a contract after the 2022 MLB Draft and could potentially return as a hitter in September if he can get ahead in his shoulder rehab, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports

Why bother signing Conforto? It doesn't make any sense.

Will you really miss any of them besides Devers and Bogaerts? The others are heading down the other side of the hill…

The question is rather, will we ever miss any of the "Bloom guys" that come and go.

Like Whitlock, Pivetta, Story, Wacha, Schreiber and maybe someone he acquires, this winter?

My guess is 2 or 3, like now.

Well lucky for you, you get to watch Sale for two years cashing checks that could have kept Bogaerts in the fold…

Somehow, Bloom will still get the blame.

Yeah, because HE CAN STILL AFFORD XANDER. JD AND EOVALDI ARE COMING OFF THE BOOKS.

Okay, we keep Bogey and Sale's contract keeps us from replacing Nate and JD.

JD and Eovaldi coming off the books also allows for Raffy extension. Bogey would only be getting a 5-10M raise. The rest goes to Raffy.

Nate can be replaced in house. JD can be replaced by a much cheaper bat as his DH-only contract was ridiculously inflated. Guys like Cron/Mancini make 7AAV and actually play a position. JD makes 3 times that much and sits on the bench for half the game. It doesn't make sense to spend 20M on a DH anymore.

Or extending Devers…

Untrue. Take JD and Eovaldi's money and split it between Xander and Raffy. It's not hard math.

I’m all for it, but that leaves nothing for Soto…

Also, can Xander take the hint and learn 1b or LF?

Maybe not for 2023, but one of those is probably in his future.

Casas 1B

Story 2B

Mayer SS

Devers 3B

Bleis RF

Rafaela CF

Xander LF

If they are replacing Xander/Betts with Soto, ok. They still have to keep Raffy though.

You do t have to convince me. My point is, the Sale contract prevents one or two major slots from being filled. We can shuffle around who that might be, but it is someone or 2 or more someones or multiple downgrades at several positions. Shake it up the way you prefer.

It prevents 2 slots being filled at high dollar from FA. Bloom has only signed one high dollar guy. If he retains Xander and extends Raffy, that doesn't mean he won't bring in other guys, they'll just be much cheaper than $20M JD. With the pitching depth in the upper minors, maybe they are planning on using the farm rather than FA to supplement the MLB squad. If that's the plan, I'm ok with it. Same with the bullpen. The FA market isn't that great this year anyway.
