You’ve gone from zero cred to negative territory.

Possibly the dumbest theory out here. Even if the Cubs sweep the Sox, the Sox are still in the playoff picture..

Too many levels to even begin a critique.

Could we trade peanuts to Colorado for shortstop iggy, and then unload bogey to a contender for some sweet prospects?

You know neither is happening.

It's the freakin' bullpen that needs to be addressed.

I think the idea of the Sox trying to be sellers and buyers at the deadline is very intriguing, in theory, but I just can't see it happening in reality.

Trading the unproductive, not coming back Bogey is a bad idea. Why?

Because we’re in the playoff hunt and his “unproductive” stretch is all of two weeks.

But let me guess - now that the Sox lost to a bad Cubs’ team, you think they’re clearly not going anywhere. The 43 wins were the outlier; yesterday was the real Sox team…

It's not the worst idea.

You've guessed wrong again. As for Bogey, he has 31 RBI, so I'd guess his 'unproductive' stretch is longer than two weeks.

Yes, he only hit .337 with an .878 OPS in June. Terrible!

I guess you don't understand the word 'productive.'

If it's all about RBI, I guess that makes Story more productive than Devers.

I certainly wish I was, but the fact remains that Bogey and JD, the 3 & 4 batters, have a combined total of 64 RBI. That is not production.

They've been missing some RBI opportunities, sure. But the back of their baseball cards says what kind of hitters they are. They aren't our problem. The pen is.

So your argument is he’s “unproductive” but he still can be dealt for elite prospects? Explain…

That's true, but to fix the BP problem will require some trades and trading unproven or crap players isn't going to get it done.

Teams trade for unproven players every July. In fact, nearly every deadline deal involves at least one.

Last year the Sox bulked up the pen and got a premier bat while giving up Aldo Ramirez, Alex Scherff, and Michael Chavis. Are we pretending those were elite established players?

If any of the ideas being talked about in this thread actually happened, we would suck for the next 10 years or so. Maybe more

Bogey is gone after this season. Trading him might makes us better in years 2-10.

(I'm not for trading Bogey.)
