Wacha 2.34 vs. Stripling 3.08

Both righties.

Both pitchers good, but the pressure is definitely on our Sox who last night were once again tormented by those Blue Jays: "Blue jays can be very aggressive to other birds; they sometimes raid nests and have decapitated other birds."

Cora going with just 3 lefty bats: Duran is still out of country and JBJ has been dropped from the lineup. Enter Christian Arroyo: a little scary in RF--his overall DWAR is -.4--but he swung the bat well @ Cleveland 4 days ago.

Refsnyder CF

Devers 3B

JDM DH

Bogey SS

Verdugo LF

Story 2B

Vazquez C

Cordero 1B

Arroyo RF

Certainly could be a good pitching match up.

No doubt.

The problem is, however, that time and time again this season Toronto's pitching, ranked 10th in the American League in ERA (4.01), has dominated Sox hitting, ranked 2d in runs scored and 3d in OPS. They have our number.

I hasten to add that last night Gauman's dominance did not look lucky. That splitter was nasty, and the fastball (95) and slider weren't bad either. I think he also threw a changeup now and then. However, just 12 days ago the Orioles hammered Gausman for 5 runs--in Toronto.

I didn't watch him pitch last night so I really can't comment on that. But he certainly has been a pretty strong pitcher this season, even with a hiccup against the orioles. Every pitcher gets hit from time to time.

Raffie needs to put that bunt down once in a while. Heck, if he bunted it hard enough, he’d probably have a double.

What an absolutely miserable top of the 1st. Refsnyder leads off with a clean single, then Devers takes a called third strike on a very hittable fastball waist high, Refsnyder is thrown out by a mile at 2b for a double play, and JDM, not wanting to be left out of this fiasco, strikes out.

Playing today to hold the top WC slot , which I now understand is irrelevant in June

Right you are. All those games, including some nice wins, wiped off the boards. Too bad the Yankees wins count, but it's a Yankees fan calling the tune.

Here we go. Wacha walks two and throws a changeup down the middle.

I swear the Boston Red Sox hitters and pitchers are terrified of the Toronto Blue Jays.

3-0 Jays and we are not out of the first inning.

They have been f***ing lame against this team. Hope do you expect to compete if you can’t beat teams in your division?

Wacha is only human. He was due for a bad start. Happens to the best pitchers.

After last night you want your best pitcher to come out strong. Instead he comes out flat.

Let's not forget that, as lousy as Wacha was in the bottom of the first inning, our first three hitters in the game stank just as much.
