It just seems like the whole pen takes turns blowing games late.

It has been the trade mark of this team this season. It's just pathetic.

Well, well. Houck gets his 3d magnificent save in less than a week. Old Red sure can pick 'em, and I bow to his superior insight into how to run a bullpen.

Never a doubt. A little drama doesn't hurt and one thing the SOX BP can provide is drama.

Schreiber and Strahm did fine.

Actually, he wanted Whitlock as the closer.

So, now the idea of Houck as the closer is in question.

I say, let him keep the job. he won't save all but if he is something around 80%, call it deal.

Houck was not my first choice to be the closer as everyone knows Whitlock was, but it was more than me who wanted to give Houck a chance, and Moon was one of them. That’s a fact. Bottom line the Sox May still need a closer, and neither of your two options in Hector, or Barnes. Sounds like your delighted that Houck almost blew the game. Don’t sound like a very good Red Sox fan to me.

Btw, we saw more than a few of these dramas when Kimbrel was the closer.

Kimbrel by October, 2018 was literally gassed out.

I remember when KOJI was our closer. You'd go to the fridge to get a beer and when you got back to the TV, KOJI had already closed the game.

Got home just in time to see the final pitch of the game. I am glad I wasn't watching the whole 9th inning. Wow! That could have been the worst loss of season in a season where there have been a lot of them. Still, a win against any team, is a win. Cardinals are a good team.

It needs to be Whitlock or Houck.

IF Sale (and that is a big IF) somehow comes back as vintage Sale, I will go like this moving forward:

1. Sale

2. Wacha

3. Pivetta

4. Hill

5. Whoever

C Whitlock

H Houck

the rest...

True, he did for awhile, but then he switched to Houck. And, once Houck got those two saves, he said Houck should have been made closer way back in April.

yeah, and that year we didn't have a closer either. Koji became a closer (the best C in MLB history in that stretch, btw) coming from nowhere.

Wrong again as usual. Whitlock is, and has been from day one my #1 option as closer. You wanted Robles, and Barnes.
