A. Wainwright 5-4 2.84ERA vs M. Wacha 4-1 2.33ERA

Wainwright's been good for a long time.

Warning: Arenado is 6 for 13 with 3 dingers against Wacha.

Go SOX!

Succinct and scary. Well done.

Five lefty bats, which is what I predicted last night (on the game thread) might be the case because the Cardinals are going with three righty starters.

Message from moonslav with which I completely agree: one game at a time.

Old Red kind of pissed me off with his "well, finally, the Sox are going to play a winning team," but right now I kind of agree.

Let the games begin.

I haven't seen any of the recent games that Duran has started. How has he looked swinging the bat?

Not bad; he's been making pretty good contact and has even laid down a nice bunt for a single.

Here's a reason the SOX record isn't better than it should be that I haven't seen posted. JD and Bogey just aren't driving in runs. Of course, there's a couple other reasons, but I thought this should be mentioned.

Make it 4.

Lousy start when JDM has men on 1st and 3d with no outs and goes GIDP.

Then Wacha gets a 3-1 count vs Arenado, who owns him, and decides to throw a fat changeup down the middle.

Story is officially completely lost at plate.

He’s extremely streaky, he’ll carry your team for a month, then kill your team for a month.

The MLB app quotes Story as saying he will beat this slump, but first he needs to admit what the scarecrow admits in the Wizard of OZ: he doesn't have a brain. In 3 pitches, he gets two right down the middle which he ignores, and swings and misses at the second pitch, which is either out of the zone or close to it.

Except for Duran's leadoff triple, the Sox lineup looks pathetic. Wacha has his work cut out for him.

Also, Cordero doesn’t seem very comfortable at 1B. His stretching for the ball is weird, he doesn’t seem confident and I think he’s going to run into or be ran into by a runner at some point
