It was pretty clear that I didn't state "in the playoffs".

It was not clear that's what you meant, since you directly responded to a post about playoff eliminations.

You also did not say, "season" or division playoff elimination games, either.

Usually, when you want to expand the debate or take it in another direction, you try to make it clear.

It was pretty clear to me that I simply stated "eliminated".

Sorry that's a tough one for you.

You clearly don't know how a conversation or debate goes. That is clear, to me.

Of course the Yanks eliminated the Sox in a countable number of times during the many seasons they played, but that was not what was being discussed.

It's not that tough to try to follow along in a conversation, unless people are not being specific and clear within the context of the subject at hand, which was playoff eliminations.

Like when they beat the Sox to mathematically eliminate them for the season? Surely, that number is not "countless," but now we'll hear a lesson on hyperbole.

No, it's clear that you didn't comprehend what I wrote, pretty simple.

No, I get what you mean now, but you clearly don't understand conversational

I'd ask that you try to keep up, buy you'd likely misunderstand that meaning, since Keep up is a multi meaning phrase.

Like just finish ahead of the Sox or do they have to win the game that knocks the Sox out of the playoff race?

Either are "countable" feats, BTW.

Yawn..... you know darn well that "countless" is just a figure of speech......

This conversation is the embodiment of a dipshit that wears a 27x jacket when 20 of them probably came before they were born. Shut the hell up.

Chanting "Yankees Suck" in 2022 is straight up embarrassing.

I'm not sure the rivalry is any greater than the Sox rivalry with the Rays or the Yanks rivalry with empty front row seats.

Yes, meaning a whole lot of times, which it really was not, unless you mean times you finished first and made the payoffs and we did not, but that hardly means "eliminated."

You still won't clarify your meaning- something else commonly done when one party of the conversation asks for more specifics, but I would not expect a Yankee fan to understand any of that.

Nope, I certainly don't wear a 27x's jacket.

So you can shut the hell up.

You should! It would match your pink pantyhose very nicely!

I'm sure that image excites you.

But back to baseball.

What do you "realistically" expect to happen in part 3 of the season?

I expect there won't be a Part IV and "A realistic Look at 2023" will start before 2022 is over.

That does not mean I'm giving up hope. It is not unreasonable to think we can squeak into the playoffs.

Fair enough.

Who do you expect to be the AL teams that do make the postseason?

A pain pig. What a sad existence. I mean, he's probably rubbing himself off all over his computer every time he clicks "post quick reply."

That's rich considering I wasn't the one that devolved the thread.

Think much before you hit the enter key?

NYY, TOR, HOU, TBR

I think CWS win the Central, but MN might beat 'em out.

I think LAA wins the 3rd WC over MN & the Sox.

I tend to agree with your assessment.

The twinkies have been a bit of a surprise to me.

And it looks like the angels have a little pitching finally. As a baseball fan it would be sad to see ballplayers like trout (1 appearance that was dreadful) and ohtani spend their careers without making the playoffs a few times.

What is the earliest in a season that a part 3 has been started?

And as far as me wishing the sox's season is over already, I have mixed emotions on that. Part of me enjoys watching them inhabit the basement, part of me would like to see them miss the playoffs on the last day of the season and part of me would like to eliminate them in the playoffs.

A Yankee fan. Must be my age that prevented me from seeing this earlier.

I now understand why you are so belligerent. It must be rough to be a fan of the wealthiest team in MLB and the one with far and away the most WS wins--but which has lagged so badly behind the Sox during the two decades of the John Henry era.

We, on the other hand, I have enjoyed those two decades, especially since some of us endured big chunks of the 86 year drought which really ended, not with the sweep of the Cardinals in the WS, but with coming from behind 0-3 in games to beat the Yankees in four straight games to win the 2004 ALCS.

"A Realistic View" was started several seasons ago by moonslav, who has used it to provide the rest of us with an omnibus thread which allows a pretty good discussion of what is happening and will happen with the Sox in any given season. This is the first time I can remember someone else (mvp 78) starting the next part. I think mvp 78 jumped the gun, but do agree this season seems headed in the wrong direction.

We've had at least one other Yankee fan on here--jacksonianmarch--who has actually been a good contributor. He's articulate and insightful and even criticizes the Yankees now and then.

You, on the other hand, remind of that obnoxious Yankee fan at an airport bar depicted in the movie, "For Love of the Game," which is based on a novel by Michael Shaara, who also wrote a terrific novel, Killer Angels, about the Battle of Gettysburg.

Right now, as bad as it has gone for the Sox, we are 5.5 behind TOR, 6.5 behind TBR and 9 behind LAA.

I think we will finish with a better record than the 2nd place Central team, but with a tougher schedule, that may not happen.

Speaking of the angels. did you see that rendon homered from the left side last night?

His 4,528 plate appearances batting righty before his lefty homer were the most career plate appearances from one side before a homer from the other side among non-switch-hitters.

I'm fine with breaking traditions, and yes, I started these threads way back on the old site, and nobody has to stick to my rough guidelines on when to start Part III. I usually go with the trade deadline, since the team often takes on a new look, but I've gone before that, when I think the team is no longer in contention, and in that sense, I think MVP jumped the gun, but he might have different reasons for starting it, now.

Wasn't that his only career PA as a LHB?

No, I did not see it.
