What a sham College football is. I don’t get how a coach under contract from one school can be contacted from another school, and then hire that coach away when the present season isn’t even over yet. A college has to honor a contract to a coach, and to me it should have to work both ways.

College football is a mess right now. Between the coaching ******** like Kiffin is doing and the players transferring every year and basically having an open free agency with no rules every year, it’s gotten very bad. I dont know how they fix this, but something needs to be done.

Agreed, and it all comes down to greed.

There are still the conference championship games to go, but here is how it looks right now...

Here are the latest CFP top 25 rankings.

  1. Ohio State: 12-0
  2. Indiana: 12-0
  3. Georgia: 11-1
  4. Texas Tech: 11-1
  5. Oregon: 11-1
  6. Ole Miss: 11-1
  7. Texas A&M: 11-1
  8. Oklahoma: 10-2
  9. Alabama: 10-2
  10. Notre Dame: 10-2
  11. BYU: 11-1
  12. Miami (Fla.): 10-2
  13. Texas: 9-3
  14. Vanderbilt: 10-2
  15. Utah: 10-2
  16. USC: 9-3
  17. Virginia: 10-2 (would be fourth highest-ranked conference champion)
  18. Arizona: 9-3
  19. Michigan: 9-3
  20. Tulane: 10-2 (would be fifth highest-ranked conference champion)
  21. Houston: 9-3
  22. Georgia Tech: 9-3
  23. Iowa: 8-4
  24. North Texas: 11-1
  25. James Madison: 11-1

  • No. 12 fifth-highest ranked conference champion at No. 5 Oregon
    • Winner vs. No. 4 Texas Tech in the quarterfinals
  • No. 9 Alabama at No. 8 Oklahoma
    • Winner vs. No. 1 Ohio State in the quarterfinals
  • No. 11 fourth highest-ranked conference champion at No. 6 Ole Miss
    • Winner vs. No. 3 Georgia in the quarterfinals
  • No. 10 Notre Dame at No. 7 Texas A&M
    • Winner vs. No. 2 Indiana in the quarterfinals

If Duke wins, they should not be in. If BYU wins, maybe ND or Ole Miss is booted out. Will ALA be bounced with a loss? No Texas Or James Madison?

Big win by Texas Tech. That assures ND a slot.

The big question is on Alabama, did they lose big enough to knock em out? (I hope so.)

Does Virginia get a slot with a win? (I don't think they should.)

Does IN drop out of the top 4 with a loss? (I'd say yes.)

Can Texas sneak in? (How do they jump teams that are not playing?) TEX  or Vandy would replace BYU, unless they go with VA.

Would James Madison be in had they not lost any games? (I'd say no.)

Let's say OSU wins, I might go...

1. OSU

2. GA

3. TX Tech

4. Ole Miss

5. IN

6. TX A&M

7. ORE

8. OKL

9. ND

10. MIA

11. ALA

12. VA with a win? or Texas/Vandy/Tulane who won?

Should 2 loss Vandy jump 3 loss ALA?

If IN wins, OSU stays top 4.

What a great day for the Hoosiers! WOW!

I'm thinking Alabama lost by enough to bounce them, but even with 3 loses, they are probably a better team than ND and MIA. I can't see how the committee jumps MIA over ND, when neither played nor saw their strength of schedule get better or worse with any action today. MIA did barely beat ND, but they lost to Louisville and SMU. ND lost to MIA and TEX A&M.

VA lost, so I can't see Duke getting in at 8-5.

I think this will be the final rankings:

Byes:

1. IN 13-0

2. OSU 12-1

3. GA 12-1

4. TX Tech 12-1

__________

5. Oregon (I'd put Ole Miss 5th)

6. Ole Miss

7. TX A&M (I'd put ORE here)

8. OKL

9. ND

10. ALA

11. Tulane (What a joke these conferences get preference)

12. James Madison (Gotta go over Duke.)

MIA should be #11

Vandy or TEX should be #12.

So....

James Madison at Oregon

Tulane at Ole Miss

Alabama at TX A&M

ND at OKL

To me, ORE might be the worst home team.

Notre Dame is OUT! What a sham College football is. Teams raid other teams coaches who are under contract during the season. Men sit in a smoke filled room, and vote on a poll to even begin with. I could see if Miami had been ahead of ND in previous week, but they hadn’t, so what changed on the final vote? There also shouldn’t be any automatic bids, and everyone should play the same amount of games. Having said all of that though when you really come right down to it ND was really 0-2 with one of those losses coming against Miami.

That was a rip-off.

Nothing changed between the two, plus ND was ahead of ALA who lost big!

Tulane & James Madison? What a joke!

Notre Dame missing the playoffs is an absolute joke. How did Miami pass them when the committee ranked Notre Dame ahead of them in previous weeks and both teams were idle? The conference argument is also stupid because Miami didn’t even win their conference against a 5 loss Duke team.

On top of that, Alabama is so protected by the committee it’s insane, they lost 3 games, including an embarrassing effort vs Florida State that got ignored by committee for some reason and they looked like s*** in their conference championship but those results were ignored for whatever reason.

Listening to a committee member describe how they made the decision was as bad as the decision itself.

MIA didn't even earn the right to play in their conference championship game!

Why even have rankings before the final one, if they mean nothing?

ND was better than MIA last week. Neither played a game, nor saw their strength of schedule improve or decline due to games player. Now, they hand it to MIA (and ALA.)

How does ALA lose and jump over an idle ND?

Notre Dame actually saw their SOS improve, they killed Boise State earlier in season and Boise won their conference championship.

We just needed to play one more big game and lose to get in- like ALA, who jumps up with a loss.

Granted, AL probably beats ND, and MIA already did, but who else did MIA beat?

The final four is set:

2 Ohio St. vs 10 Miami (12/31)

9 Alabama vs 1 Indiana (1/1)

5 Oregon vs 4 Texas Tech (1/1)

6 Ole Miss vs 3 Georgia (1/1)

I'm going with Ohio St, Indiana, Texas Tech & then Ole Miss with the upset.

OSU>> Texas Tech

Indiana >> Ole Miss

Ohio St over Indiana

Some big upsets in college football.

#10 MIA beat #2 Ohio St. (Gotts love it!)

#6 Ole Miss upset #3 Georgia

#5 Oregon with a mild upset of #4 Texas Tech

#1 Indiana killed #9 Alabama, which was a little surprising.

(Looks like maybe MIA deserved their slot but maybe not ALA.)

Maybe the SEC is not as good as people think as other SEC teams lost, too:

TXA&M to MIA

LSU to HOU

TN to ILL

Vandy to IA

The only SEC teams to win were ones that beat another SEC team! Their record is 1-6 with Ole Miss still alive.

Yeah, college football is a mess.  Why not form a blue-ribbon committee, say like the one for the nfl Hall of Fame, to come up with a solution.
