Bases loaded, so bring in the guy who always walks the first guy!

A little tense

He’s doing well though outside of that hit

Note to Cora. Before this game Perez had pitched in 8 games this month as a reliever, and his ERA for the month is 9.

Bringing him in for a save opportunity was not smart.

Not sure I agree with that. The Perez move was very questionable

He used 7 bullpen arms. Whitlock can’t throw 2 innings every game. Need to save his bullets since nobody else there is reliable.

The faults of the pen are on Bloom IMO.

Cora can do no wrong. It's in the bible.

Normally, usually, that's true. He did make a lot of good moves today, including putting JDM back in the 3 slot, which none of us would have wanted him to do. He sent Eovaldi out for the 6th, and pulled him at just the right moment. He used 7 relievers and all but one of them did the job.

But sending Perez out for the 10th was and is indefensible.

I was being, wait for it, sarcastic.

Actually, I suggested we bat JD 3rd or 6th.

Pen is fine now that Barnes isn't closing. Robles stunk last Wednesday in the 10th 3 days ago, but the rest of the bullpen was great in that game. They were fine Thursday, yesterday, and today as well--except for Perez, who had no business being sent out in the 10th with a save opportunity. Whitlock should have pitched the 10th.

Richards has blossomed in the bullpen. He's now pitched in 6 games and 10.1 innings in relief and given up 1 run. Last night and today he pitched a clean 8th inning with the game on the line. Today it was the final out in the 8th, also with the game on the line.

Barnes is likely to come back, possibly even to close.

Yeah, well, you and Kimmi love those theories/analyses that argue the batting 3d is no big deal. And maybe you're right. But today the #3 hitter won this game.

Because sarcasm seems to be so hard to identify here, from now on when I post in italics, that means sarcasm.

Forget it. Your sarcasm is as subtle as a sledgehammer. Most sarcasm is. If it's somewhat subtle, it's called irony.

Right now it is closer by committee. Cora is getting plenty of examples of who is trustworthy and who is not. Maybe Barnes will find his mojo and regain the closer role.

I thought it was “despite” lol

Thanks!

Actually 'despite' and 'in spite of' are pretty much the same. 'In spite of' just has a little more flow.
