I think this was discussed in the last gamethread. ERod has enough problems with his pitching, so a porous, inept infield makes it all that much worse.

 

My suspicion is that Devers error was the direct result of his horrible K with 2 on in the top of the inning. His head wasn't in the game, which is too often the case.

 

Then there was Santana leading off and getting K'd on 3 pitches.

He did not look great in the first, but he looked good enough to get out of the inning without a run- had we had a decent defense.

I've never thought of X as a Gold Glover at short, but regarding the Sox crappy D... any player at any level is better when he's not standing back on his heels trying to stay awake while his pitcher goes to a full count on almost every batter for an entire month straight.
