This centenarion needs to go. He had no business being hired in the first place (except as an old boy throwback). You may recall that last week, he admitted he didn't know the rules for extra innings. Instead of learning actual rules, we have him laying down a whole bunch of "old-school" unwritten rules which only he, apparently, is old enough to remember (or invent on the spot).

I never liked LaRussa’s style of managing in late innings as he slowed the game to a crawl. But if the manager tells you what to do and you don’t do it, there is usually a conversation. I don’t agree with this unwritten rule. I don’t think players who could actually hit at the MLB level would agree with it. They make their money building stats, and you build stats against mediocre and bad pitchers. You don’t earn your contract against deGrom or Scherzer.
