Nice to see Whitlock go 3 and give the pen a night off.

52 pitches is a kinda lot for 3, but that's one way to "stretch him out."

Richards is sealing the deal.

Let's hope the bats stay hot. Dalbec, Renfroe and Chavis looked good. Even Arauz got 2 BBs.

Great point on Whitlock.

Renfroe with two excellent throws. On the first one the A's runner decided not to go, but Renfroe hit the cut off man perfectly so the guy on first couldn't advance. On the 2d, he also hit the relay man perfectly, and Arauz made a great throw hom.

Sox look great all around tonight--pitching, hitting, baserunning, and defense.

That said, the first 7 runs were all off the starter--2 IP--and in the succeeding 5 innings by the bullpen the Sox have scored 1 unearned run.

So, one more time, I have to say: the Sox are better than other teams at hitting mistakes, but not so good at hitting good pitching.

This win is very timely.

Well if I recall well we have already beaten elite pitching — and have even destroyed some. Golito, DeGeom, Berrios, Ryu, etc. Manea is not an ace but is a solid 2-3. Geez he posted a no-no against us in 2018.

This is the best offense in baseball. That’s a fact. We have faced all kind of pitching. This lineup deserves credit. There’s no reason to think they will choke.

Unfortunately in all team sports whether a team wins by one or a hundred it only counts as one win. Been that way forever and I doubt it will change. However, with all the rule changes in baseball, who knows. Maybe the powers that be will come up with a rule that if a team wins by a certain number of runs it will count as 2 wins. I seriously doubt that will happen, but I also seriously doubted they would ever start extra inning games with a runner at second, so who knows? Edited by SPLENDIDSPLINTER

All things considered, I would have taken losing 2 out of 3 coming into this series. The only thing that gets me, though, is how we lost those 2 games. Hate to waste good pitching nights with anemic offensive performances. We know the bullpen will cost us at least a few more wins down the road, so it's crucial to win the games where they are nearly lights out.
