I blame that 9 game winning streak for being deceived. But I will be fooled again.

LOL we got spoiled early

This series have been frustrating and annoying as hell thus far.

A lot missed opportunities.

These first two games vs. the A's would seem to demonstrate how truly flawed these Sox are. When the pressure is on, they fold. Pitchers can't get guys out and hitters can't bring guys home.

I would generally agree, but point out that the offensive woes are only because our 2-5 hitters are slumping. They won't always be, of course, but it goes to show you how screwed we are when they don't hit, since the bottom of the lineup is a dumpster fire

The bad thing about this is that the Yankees are winning. We could soon be looking up at them.

I mean, we all expected to for most of the season.

We definitely need help in the bottom of the order. Having our top hitters in a slump is as bad as having them injured. I figured this would happen eventually. Can’t survive like this..... of course giving up 4 runs isn’t super great either from our starter but you just won’t win games with 1 run. 3 games in a row, and yes we have faced good pitching but regardless we are in a slump offensively. Need to figure this out and fast because after tonight if the Yanks win, they are just a game behind

We haven't even seen our 4 and 5 starters s*** the bed, yet.

Pitching has not been the problem at all.

We're not this bad, that's for sure. Therefore, we'll recover at some point. But, our ceiling isn't very high either. I still don't think we're a playoff team, even after the start we've gotten off to

Slumping???? This isn't slumping. This is being overmatched by good pitching. Slumping is when you get to hit off a T and still and still make outs.

SplendidSplinter has it right. The great hitters hit mistakes more often than average hitters. But good pitching always beats good hitting.

Ya if we were in the Mets division or something then maybe. Ours is too competitive, Yankees are right on our tail. Oh well

No, it's definitely slumping. Bogaerts and Devers have had some bad ABs recently. JD meanwhile hasn't had a decent pitch to hit in a week. Everybody is scared of him

I know we're in trouble when MAX starts quoting me.

Good night gang. Went for a long run this afternoon so I'm crashing early. Here's to comebacks!

Are you saying you won't be deceived again if the SOX go on another long winning streak? I have admitted that I will get fooled again.

IMO we just haven’t had luck in key moments. That’s it. Both games could have gone in our favor too. They didn’t. s*** happens. To put it in context, this same A’s team just lost a week a go a series vs f***ing Baltimore Orioles.

I thought this season would be a bust. I truly questioned if we would even be a .500 team. Until we fall back down to that level (if and when that happens), I am simply enjoying the ride, since for me, they are still exceeding my expectations. That makes it fun for me to watch. So no, I would not be deceived. Only if we actually make the playoffs, I suppose

I think we are exactly who we are since our 9 game win streak. An average or maybe if we are lucky just above average team. Unfortunately In this division, that just won’t get it done. I wouldn’t be surprised if we went on another 4 game win streak against some crap teams but I would be very very surprised if we go on another 9 game win streak and sweep the likes of Tampa. I agree with Thunder that we aren’t this bad, but I also don’t think we are as good as we thought winning 9 in a row. This is about what I expected of the season.

This kid Bazardo is way better than half of the arms of the pen at least. Good to see we have options.
