I'm one of the posters here who doesn't believe that Cora is the greatest manager who ever lived.

 

Someone believes that? He’s not even the best manager of the past 15 years.

Ottavino looked good his first game but this was terrible.

Valdez and Sawamura have looked good too, same with Whitlock. But for how long is the question. I figured the bullpen was playing over their head.

 

Very small sample size for all those guys. We’ll see how they do as season goes on but they really need a true legit 8th inning guy, or a closer that could move Barnes into that role IMO

I think it's always a gamble when you ask a reliever to go more than one inning.

Of course, that's hard to avoid if your team is consistently getting 5 or less innings from the starter.

Meh. It made sense to bring out Ottavino for the 8th. After 2 hits, pull him, but you already have men on 2d and 3d and no one out, so the Orioles are a very good bet to tie the game and a decent bet to score the go ahead run no matter what Cora does.

I disagree. He’s a 3 out pitcher at most to me. I wouldn’t bring him back the following inning to have him warm up again. He shouldn’t be throwing 20+ pitches.

Meh it’s early. Mistakes will happen, this team is gutting out wins which is nice. We have a lead and a chance to win regardless.
