Yeah that wasn’t really fallout from the Tudor trade. I think you’re thinking of Dennis Eckersley (who is not left-handed)...

no, he related to Don Baylor for Easler, and my 1st thought was the 86 team, hence my comment, on another note, played against Barrett in high school, threw him out twice on unassisted D.P's one Legion game in the summer of 73, played 3 years against him. His older brother Charlie through damn bullets, he was sick. Shame he blew out his arm

ERod's value is probably at his highest. Bloomin Idiot could get a haul for him. He will not get a haul for 1 year of Mookie. He made several public statements about making every effort to keep Mookie long term. Trading Betts less than a month before Spring Training would make him look like a liar and a fool.

If reports about what the Sox offered Mookie and what he countered with are true, then I suspect that the Sox have made every reasonable effort they could to keep Mookie long term. There comes a point when you realize it's not going to happen unless you want to commit to ridiculously insane demands.

Trading Betts now makes Bloom neither a liar nor a fool.

I agree with all of this. ERod would be the perfect low-cost addition to a team trying to get to the next level. The ask would have to be two pitchers coming back; an MLB-ready starter and a top prospect. Trade simulators -- get on this now... what pretender needs a 19-game winner to be a contender?

I have to disagree. Trading ERod makes little sense to a team that's trying to stay competitive and cut salary.

I’m not sure he came out or arrived. He just stayed healthy for once.

maybe this ST they will teach him about the whole "covering firstbase" thing??? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That may be too much to put on his plate.

Erod makes what 9 to 9 5 and now JBJ is what 11 million ? Don’t kill me over this but to me Erod is worth 22 a year and JBJ is worth maybe what 3 ? eat 9million vs 15 for Price and let’s face it Erod is the only pitcher that is truly trade worthy . I’m not saying just a salary dump what say you ? I think at this point I’m exploring this very trade if I’m Bloom ...if an extension can’t be worked by July for Mookie Trade the kid at that point .

Connie Mack sold Lefty Grove to the Red Sox because he was going broke. Is John Henry going broke? I don't think so. Thank God we've got one ACE, at least!
