The bottom line on Perez is that the deep analytics show he pitched better than his ERA last year, and $6 mill is a reasonable price. It's exactly the type of signing Bloom should have been expected to make.

Plus I think there is a good chance the Sox beat those analytics with an opener or two in the rotation. Perez might essentially be a long reliever who starts out facing the bottom of the order...
