I was looking into the astronomical number of HR hit so far and realized all last season there were 26 players who hit 30 Hr or more for the entire season! Up to this point in the season there are 36 guys who have 30 or more already. By seasons end there can and mostly will be 55 players eclipse the 30 mark. As an organization, should be be looking into guys for the future with better exit velo and launch angle. I hate to admit it but the Yanks seem to have a guy come in and rake no matter the name on the back of the jersey.

The Red Sox are #6 in home runs and #3 in the more important runs scored category in MLB.

Pitching is the bigger concern.

So what is the new pitching trend to minimize Launch Ball? Maybe that is where they need to focus. Find pitchers who work well up in the zone like Jon Lester and Matt Cain used to...

The Manfred Missile might also get a makeover for 2020 after all the mostly negative chatter about it...

Lat season 5585 homers were hit in the ML. This year the projected number is around 6400. That's about a 13% increase--calculated in my head.

I wonder how many were 2 out homers... them's the ones that hurt most or help most.

If chicks dig the long ball, there must be a lot more women fans this year.

Why don't we just cite those old Miller Lite "tastes Great, Less Filling" ads with Luis Tiant while we're at it?

That chicks did the long ball ad featured 3 now-retired major leaguers, two of whom have already been enshrined in Cooperstown and a third who has failed on multiple attempts due to his steroid usage. (In hindsight, was it saying "Chicks dig stanislozol?")

I don't know if there are any stats on it , but I don't remember there being so many opposite field home runs as there has been this year . Really tough for pitchers . You think you made a good pitch , the batter is late on it , and it still goes out to the opposite field .

Yep, that's part of the Manfred Missile effect.

The ones that bug me are the HRs where the batter hits it and looks disgusted that he "got under it," and yet it goes out.

One handed HRs.

Broken bat HRs.

On one knee HRs.
