Betts is playing well, beni is not. Hard to understand slumps and hot streaks. Will some coach help Beni?

Ted Williams was not joking when he said hitting a baseball is really hard to do.

Think about this, last night the guy who started against us was the last guy we developed in the Minors as a Competent Starting Pitcher. He's 34 or 35 years old.

Dodgers are the #1 team that invests in Scouting. #2 Houston, #3 Yankees. Sox are #24. With Theo we were #1 for years. He knew the importance of Scouting.

You can twist yourself into a knot anyway you want.

It Starts with Pitching.

Keep it simple.

Simple is genius.

But what's interesting is that Theo has not been very good at drafting or developing pitchers either, with the Sox or with the Cubs.

i wonder how much of John Henry's money it would take to pry every TB scout from their organization? that would solve our pitching problems....

Agree, but he had right idea, just probably bad Scouts in that area.

From what I hear, the Cubs Fans are starting to get impatient with him.

Don't sign Mookie to a 10 year deal.

lol. we could actually do both. whatever $$ we spend on TB's scouts does not count towards the dreaded LT.

Are they? That figures. He spoiled them with a title.

Any chance he can be lured back to the Sox?

We need Scouts from the Dodgers, Astros, Yanks (yes Yanks), and Tampa. Cover everything. Pay their best, in fact overpay, and you save money in the long run.

I'll take Theo over Jed Hoyer, that guy is very overrated.

We have almost the same record as the Cubs, this year. Not that it means much.

Anyway I'm getting prepared for us to lose JD and Mookie this Off-Season. Up here in NE, they keep bringing it up, they need to lower Payroll, from all the analyst.

Some of those 'analysts' are just being Captain Obvious.

If we lose BOTH JD and Mookie this Off-Season, that will be a shocking development.

One is moving for sure, 100% sure.

This off season? I'm not so sure, but certainly it could very well happen.

A lot depends on who is our next GM and what direction is chosen.

Dan Shaughnessy is real tight with the Sox, and he says one is moving, good chance both.

He's pretty accurate with the Sox. Seems since he works for Henry he gets a lot of first hand stuff.

But still, they don't even have a new head of baseball ops yet.

I imagine you'll have to look at Higher contracts that you could move and get something for. Price, No. Sale No. Eovaldi No. Who's left?

Bogaerts was signed by the new Female GM, not Dombrowski. Many players like her including Mookie.

Another Shaughnessy tidbit.

Moving one of them makes sense.

Moving both of them is fire sale stuff when you're the Boston Red Sox.

It's like telling the fans to get ready for a 2020 that's no more worth watching than this series with the Jays.

Their head of baseball ops is Henry right now. And he will give a directive to the group and they'll have to enact it. If the directive is to lower payroll, then they'll lower payroll. The only actual way to lower payroll and get something in return is to shop Betts. A JD deal could also lower payroll, but you'd have to part with some money to get anything of value.

You're a killjoy, man. You know there are going to be news items.

-New head of baseball ops.

-Will JDM opt out or not?

-Will Betts be traded or stay?

-What will they do about JBJ?

-Will Holt be re-signed or let go?

-Who will replace Porcello?

For starters.

Yes but none are guaranteed. If JD stays, Betts doesn’t get traded, Bradley gets tendered, Hernandez or Lin replaces Holt and Johnson or Chacin replaces Porcello, where are all these guaranteed changes?

I think they should make a few big moves, but as I am not the GM, I can’t guarantee anything will happen...

Not hearing that. He may no longer be a demi-god, but no one seems impatient in Chicago...

Betts. And the most tradable is Bogaerts..,

Me I'm breaking ground and hiring the First Female GM. Men have screwed it up for too long. We go from one extreme to another. Fresh set of eyes I want.

Shaughnessy was SPOT ON with DD. Everyone thought he was a fool when he reported in the middle of the summer that he was on the outs and heck, the guy didn't even finish the season. Now he is saying that Betts or JD or both are out, I would go with him. It makes sense. And I know the sox don't want to spread the message that they're done in 2020 too, but I think most sox fans who aren't drinking the Kool Aid are aware that the window closed.

Yes, but JD, Betts and JBJ all staying would actually be news.

Some of this stuff is news either way.

Reading on the Cubs Farm, it has really dropped. Not much there anymore. Close to the Sox now.

Sure it is. But status quo doesn’t make for an interesting off-season...

Corrections: Shaughnessy only said that a few weeks ago when it was becoming obvious the 2019 season was toast. And by no means did everyone think he was a fool. I said right away that it had the ring of truth.
