Back in the early '60's the O's had a pitcher in their farm system(I don't remember his name) who consistently threw 100+mph. His only problem was he couldn't throw strikes, so he never made it to the big show. But as OB just said "he had a lively arm."

Mr West should be a DHPU.

DHPU=Designated Home Plate Umpire.

Always remember Joe’s the guy who corrected Bellhorn’s homer in Game 6 of the 2004 ALCS. And called ARod’s slap later in the same game. And called fan interference with Betts last year in Houston. He can be a good ump when he wants to be.

No question. But currently his lack of mobility should be a concern to him.

Btw, the pitcher who is the MLB career leader in SO's is also the MLB career leader in BB's.

Which made him very effective because if there was one pitcher you did not want to get drilled by...it was that guy.

To anyone who lives in NE, do you get NESN as part of your basic cable package or do you pay a separate fee for it? Here in CNY, YES comes with my basic cable. If I was a Yankem fan, that would be great. I pay @ $200.00 for Extra Innings, which motivates me to watch every SOX game.

I’m in the same boat here in NJ.

Can you picture Nolan working with a pitch count? Hell, the guy would be at 100 pitches by the 4th inning in most games.

This mercy rule s*** really has me irritated. So what does Boone or OB think, that all of these runs and specifically all these HR's are some phenomenon attributed to the excess "quality" of ML baseball players? Give me a break. Yaz grandson has a 3 HR game and its orgasms galore. Any idea how many dingers Yaz would have had playing with THIS baseball and these sludge pitchers?

So MLB destroys the pitching and brings us the Manfred Missile thus creating multiple blowouts and running through sludge pitching staffs like crazy and Boone wants to have a mercy rule to prevent so many everyday players pitching?????

How about you tell the company that manufactures the baseballs that you now own MLB TO GO BACK to making a reasonable baseball and then stop driving pitchers toward velo and spin rate that is beyond their actual talent level. Then we can dispense with idiocy like a mercy rule.

Like everything else it's all about the money. HR's sell tickets. That's why MLB wasn't in that big a hurry to end the 'steroid era.'
