Seems to me the real question for Sale is can he throw his Slider with the same action on the ball that he needs if its to be the slam dunk pitch it is for him OR will he throw a crap Slider as so many Sliders thrown by so many pitchers that have used the pitch effectively in the past have been plagued with with year.

Really beginning to wonder if they just cannot grip the pitch to get the action each individual pitcher expects to get from it. Not all pitchers have had the kind of action on their Slider that Sales has had and relies on. But the number of them being thrown up there that are just pure crap can't just be caused by the number of crap pitchers pitching in MLB today. Surely that is part of it. But we are seeing crap Sliders from pitchers with a known reputation for being successful with the pitch.

That'd be the lower seams right?

The only question about Cashner is how will he handle the pressure of pitching in Boston after his stint with the pressureless O's?

Fair question, but being with the O's he has pitched a lot against the Yanks and Rays, at least.

I believe prado was batting over 300.

He's a 17 year old OF. The O's must have been impressed, but a team has to give up something to get something and Cashner is definitely a SOX need. Speaking of age, Cashner is 32.

He's also had his worst slumps in the 9 slot.

What I find interesting is the timing of the move back to the 9 slot vs a RHP and with Leon in the order.

Just keeping Thunder Thighs out of the way of the top of lineup guys.

The real question IMO is how much this will hurt the chances the Orioles have to win the ALE.

:P

Unless he gets walked or hit by pitch Leon probably won't be clogging up the base paths.

That's not what he's there for, he's there to get Sale a win. Something that Vazquez has not done. Sale is winless with him behind the plate.

Blaming the catcher for a pitcher's lack of strike zone control is pretty lame.
