We win!

Not much of a game today.. an extended batting practice really. We should be five games back when all said and done tonight.

Hard to believe.

The goal should be to be at least 4 to 5 games down before the all star break.

We're 1 behind Texas for the last WC slot, right now.

We're 5.5 behind TB.

We're 6 behind the Yanks (5.5, if the Yanks lose).

True story.. on my drive home from dinner tonight I noticed that a woman was wearing a Skanks hat so I roll down the window and say..

So how does it feel to be in last place this year?

What place?

That’s a Yankees hat you have on right?

Oh no.. This is a New York hat.

LOL.... I was dying....

Just another true Yankees fan.

Yes but go look at the Yankees upcoming schedule. This team has to make a move in the standings. They gonna have to beat winning teams if they wanna try and save this season. It’s miraculous that this team is not like 15 back in the division.

I'm glad we are playing the teams we need to pass.

We don't need to win any more than we have been over the last 4-6 weeks to win the WC slot.

Yes, winning the division is not going to be easy.

I still think we have a shot in the division. Long season. Yankees have a brutal schedule coming up.

That's a funny story, but in general, you people have to be more tolerant of Yankees fans. I live in the area of CT where it's split right down the middle. I don't hate the Yankees, because most of the people I care about are Yankees fans. I guess it depends on where you grow up

The way it lines up when we face the White Sox, we will be seeing Giolito against Sale. That ought to be a doozy. In his last 30 days Giolito's ERA is 1.05. He's been on a tear.

That team is about 1 year away from being very strong. Yanks got their hands full against them, and so will we. Have to win in Baltimore. So far this year the Yanks are 1-4 against them.

I said this earlier, they are playing Chris Davis still. They really have their head up their asses.

Not sure the O's have a choice on Davis other than somehow hope he comes back to something remotely representing a ML player as they are paying him not $10M per or $15M per or even $20M per but north of $20M per. At some point, especially if you are a team like the O's you just don't have a choice.

The way the Lux tax is now calculated and used it is effectively a salary cap. All you have to do is look at the number of teams now willing to breech it and the degree to which even those teams are willing to breech it. So if you are the O's, you can't go over and you can't sit a guy like Davis. They literally don't have a choice.

The next CBA should be real interesting.

The luxury tax is not really a salary cap, except to maybe 6-9 teams.

Some teams don't mind going over. Most teams do not even think about it, because they are so far from the limit.

Probably less than 8 teams do not spend more because of the tax.

Total number of teams OVER has come down steadily year by year. I think your numbers are optimistic if you are thinking it is not the equivalent of a cap. We WILL have a year when nobody goes over. Its inevitable at this rate....that is unless the next CBA changes stuff around. The owners won't get caught COLLUDING this time around either to use a rather popular word in political circles these days.
