I prefer the drier summer weather on the West Coast to the muggy, rainier summer weather in New England.

Yes, but the northeast is better than the south, midwest and central climes.

I remember standing outside Fenway Park in high humidity and near-100 degree weather in July 1973 as a 17-year-old hitchhiker who had grown up with the muggy summers of the Mississippi Valley.

I remember driving with friends through a torrential rain in Rhode Island en route to a Red Sox game at Fenway in August 2010. The usher in the bleacher section at Fenway left a positive impression by toweling off our seats.

Yes, that's how New England is every day of the summer.

LOL!

Come on, Boston is milder than the South and mid west in summer, and that's one reason why baseball is followed more fully in the north.

Now that many southern cities have inside stadiums, we may see a trend reversal, but football will be hard to supplant in many areas.

Houston and Minneapolis have contrasting summer weather.

Really how many entire urban areas are dedicated to one sport? Boston also has a really good basketball following. They have a solid football following right now, too, but I don’t think it’s representative of when the Patriots are not doing well (whenever that’s is)...

Boston is a great sports town. but we will go to Fenway and root on our beloved Sox even when they are a .500 team. I can't comment on the Bruins or Celtics as i follow neither. it is hard to remember the Patriots being a .500 team. Atlanta wont even sell out postseason tix for baseball.

I went to a game in Foxboro in the late Eighties when the Pats were really bad. It was sold out and the tailgate parties before and after were awesome. We went with some guys from the Boston area and one of the neighbors warned us what we were getting into beforehand. 'Have you ever been to Foxboro? It's a horrashow. 50,000 drunks!'

The Midwest gets some serious bitter cold. Not so much snow, but lots and lots of cold down to temperatures so low sometimes, you know it’s just God’s way of being sarcastic.

I’d rather have snow than cold. At least you can shovel snow...

One winter while at ND, it never got above zero for like 19 days in a row!

It was windy, too.

While walking to class, I had to go through buildings to warm up.

One time, in Maine, my ear froze as solid as a rock. The doc said it might turn black and fall off.

It didn't.
