Not a prediction but I will be watching Dalbec very closely. He is a young man with great potential.

I think he had his breakout last year. I wonder what thoughts are on the players in the system who haven’t done anything yet...

I'm going to have fun following the development of Casas and Flores. they are just kids but seem to have a great deal of potential. Groome has started to throw again as well. he is too good and too young to be giving up on just yet.

This system really does need Groome to stay healthy and start planning out...

The 2018 draft class offers a lot to keep an eye on...I'm looking forward to seeing a full season of Casas, Decker, Northcut, Howlett, Durran, Cottam, Granberg, Shugart, etc. And, of course, whether Feltman can make it to Boston and contribute down the stretch. Edited by Jack Flap

I think this is the year for Alex Scherff...

I hope so. Kind of forgot about him, tbh.

Also, Houck building on his second half success from last season would be huge.

Houck still could factor in.

I think D Hernandez has the best chance to make a major impact within the next 1.5 seasons.

I pick Bryan Mata as the prospect who rises the most over the 2019 season.

Chavis and Dalbec (maybe Shawaryn) might be the first to get a chance and make an impact. There's an outside hope with Feltman late in the season, but I think 2020 is more likely.

Groome is hard to figure.

Houck looks to be bound for the pen and may become significant, but I'm not expecting it.

I'm still thinking our best hopes are with our far away prospects like Casas (18), Mata (19), Flores (18), D Diaz (18), Scherff (20) and Decker (19)/Howlett (19)/Northcut (19)/Jimenez (18)

I posted elsewhere, but I believe this list is pretty solid. I would be tempted to move Dalbec up, but overall this list is really good. Groome is projected too high elsewhere. I'd be inclined to move Feltman up too.

My top 10 today:

Casas

Hernandez

Chavis

Flores

Dalbec

Decker

Houck

Feltman

Groome

Lakins

Mata would be 11th and some combination of Reyes/Danny Diaz/Howlett/Chatham to round out top 15.

To me, Chatham is basically Deven Marrero part 2. He's a guy who will make the majors for his defense, but bounce around for a while. He just doesn't have a huge upside of some of the other prospects who may never make the bigs.

I do think he’s better than Marrero at the plate, but his is going to spend his career batting 8th or 9th.

Hopefully he is good enough, because as of now, he might be shortstopping in Boston in 15 months...

I'm just not a believer in Mata. I hope I'm wrong. It would be nice to develop some starters for once.

He is irrelevant now

He’s 24. Not exactly prospect age anymore and he’s been fairly slow and ineffective most of his career. But the idea of OF/P is apparently becoming a new thing, ever since Shohei Otani showed that it doubles your chance for injury.

Matt Davidson is trying to add pitching to his repertoire. Michael Lorenzen is trying to add outfield to his. Is this some crazy new trend? Or will it disappear faster than the careers of Brooks Kieschnick and Christian Bethancourt?

It may end up being a trend, but Ball isn't good at either. You have to be a good enough pitcher to get innings. Ball has sucked ass as a pitcher

Ball hasn’t done much as a starter and one season as a reliever, but it might be early to say he can’t hit, too. He only has 9 career minor league at bats...

It wouldn't be following a trend if a hitter cannot pitch. It would be the norm. Maybe he can hit, who knows.

As a pitcher, he might have a shot as a LOOGY. But it probably won’t happen until after the Sox finally release him at some point...
