He's due 11.5 next year, NO Thanks. Other fish to fry.

There would have to be some sort of salary offset for any deal with Pitt, IMO.

He's not 11.5 million above average. 33 in March, no thanks. We need relievers, stay on point. 11.5 you could get a Damn good one, for 1 year.

Man if a Catcher could hit just a steady .270, he would break the bank.

I'm reading between the lines from what DD has been quot6ed as saying. I really think it is an open question but that Vaz is safely in.

As I said, you may be right. For all we know, we may go into the season with all 3 catchers again. Or, we may acquire Cervelli and decide that Vaz is the best trade trip of the three.

If it were me making the decisions, I'd leave the catching duo alone.

He's somewhat of an upside play because he's a better athlete than those dime a dozens you're referencing. Dombrowski must have seen him as such or he wouldn't have hung onto him so long.

It's possible that another team likes him as a super sub type who can also catch. There is some value in that.

Only 3 years and never over 322 PAs.

True.

For what it's worth, the three Red Sox catchers have a combined 15 MLB seasons (including partial seasons) but only one has a season with more than 322 plate appearances (Christian Vazquez 345 in 2017). Each has only one season with a batting average above .270 and each has a career batting average below .260.

For the record: I am not a big fan of catcher Omar Narvaez.
