There have been times this year when I have wanted Lavanchi to not even leave the dugout...just yell out to Hembree "YOU'RE SHORT ARMING THE BALL AGAIN!" It is so damned obvious when he is doing it and the results are so predictable.

I think the ump favored Tanaka on the close ones and that ERod got screwed on I think the first guy he walked.

 

But the root problem with ERod and basically the whole team is none of them is comfortable keeping the ball low. Hembree hung a slider up. In addition ERod and Price both over-rely on fast balls and cut fast balls which ain't fooling anyone.

 

Tanaka has as good a fast ball as ERod, but it's almost a waste pitch with him because he relies on breaking stuff down.

Hate to say it but it was so predictable. E-Rod has great raw talent but something is missing. Could he be so dumb to continually nibble himself into trouble? 4 of the runs were due to his walks. Hembree has been and continues to be unable to get any job done. Good job Cora. If I could see it coming, he could as well. Kind of makes you sick to see the Sox throwing a winnable game away. The Yankees aren't that good.

to be honest it is on the entire enterprise that is engaged in the pitching set up from battery choice tonight and how they prepared to pitch this game tonight to starters for this series through Cora's reluctance to take Eddie out when it was clear that Vaz/Eddie had no clue to the PEN OF PAIN and Lavanche again doing nothing to stop Hembree from short arming his pitches. Just a putrid performance so far from everybody involved in the pitching for this team.

Not sure I agree. His favorite pitch by far is his fastball, and the Yankees love it even more than he does. If he threw wicked breaking stuff to contact, I could see it. But not that fastball. And, by the way, the Sox are also hitting Tanaka's fast ball well.
