Other than perhaps Price, what pitcher on the SOX is fit?

Starting to wonder this myself. Went from such a dangerous pitching staff to this. Even Porcello is slumping.

It will be nice tomorrow if our pitcher doesn’t give up runs to start the game.

E-Rod has been pretty awesome this year. You would think he would give us a chance against a team like The White Sox. But lately I don’t trust anyone other than Sale and Price.

Ugh.

The only good thing about this game was the rain delay.

During which NESN ran some taped interviews with Holt, Sale, and Pedro. All of which was f***ing great stuff.

I hope that you folks were able to see these spots.

Porcello is healthy and is one of the best athletes on the team.

Although he is somewhat a box of chocolates.

Sounds like Poms looked decent tonight.

Pom with 4 innings, 7 hits, no walks , apparently a few OF plays on the run. He is no real factor looking towards playoffs. Everyone send Zimmerman of the Tigers congrats for giving up 3 HR's in an inning.. Maybe the Tigers managerial team for leaving him in.

Beni really needs to do something about his approach at the plate. He is going nowhere in a hurry like this.

Finally gets his first HR in almost 150 AB's in a place that matters not.

Why look for the negative when Beni getting a HR has got to be a positive and may lead to more later on?

I would have preferred that Thorny show good more than Pom. What role is there for Pom...a LHer to come in and get LH hitters out? We need Thorny worse and he is not getting it done.

So far, Brasier, Barnes, Valazquez are in the post season pen. Workman has the best shot of getting there next. The rest whomever they may be are fill ins to that core group unless Thorny starts to show up and I mean NOW! Pom maybe just to have a lefty. But I don't really know why else.

Pom as a reliever:

15.1 IP

255/349/364 = 713 OPS

310 BABip

His numbers are mediocre but not awful. Too many walks but not a lot of extra base hits.

He can pitch multiple innings up to 4 or 5.

The carrot at the end of the stick is that he might still be working back to full strength from his injury.

Nothing to get excited about but no reason to write him off yet either.

If you want to count the Catcher who had 133 at bats, fine. But the original Starting line-up didn't have a hitter, hitting over .249 What that tells me, what Pomeranz did is not impressive, reason hard to gage against a weak hitting team, but Thornburg's ineffectiveness is more concerning. This is easier to gage, because he shouldn't have problems like he's having against weak hitting team. Edited by OH FOY!

I just don'e see Cora going back to Pom time and again in a post season environment which is what you look for in a post season relief arm. You don't have the luxury of this grab bag of guys that might work out in a given situation but might not. You have to be able to go back to the same guys over and over again. Pom should make it just to have a lefty....but he really does not make the grade in any other way nor do I expect he will by October.

Just a note to folks because I just found out myself. Tonight's Saturday game is starting at 7:10 Eastern. Whoever is doing it might want to put up a game thread.
