Sale will give up 3 runs in 6 innings (2 HR's), but the Red Sox should pound Gray for 4 runs at the end of 3, maybe more. Gray is a #4 or #5 at this stage and the Sox should jump him early . Chris will keep the Sox close if they fail to support him, but that shouldn't happen today. Time for a big bounce back.

We need Sale to be an ace and a stopper tonight.

I have confidence in our offense to come through.

Let's do this!

At the game mojo. My friend couldn’t make the game. His tickets are down the left field line (handicapped seat). Very nice view. On the way into the park, I tried to sell the extra ticket for a couple of beers. The guy traded me a $225 ticket between Home plate and the Yankees dugout for my 2 ($65) seats. I am in section 117B row 11 seat 7. I am watching in style. I haven’t been this close in Yankee Stadium since the seats were $4. LOL!

I'm joining the wonderment as to why Brock Holt is not in the lineup more than Nunez, especially against a righty like Sonny Boy Gray. And I don't have the complaints some do about Nunez who should not have expected to be a full time regular at this time of year. He was insurance and a good utility player to have on the bench.

Holt has been in 48 games for 140 AB's and is hitting .293, with a .373 OBP ; 125 fielding chances with no errors

Nunez has been in 70 games for 264 AB's with a .254 average but a poor .284 OBP ; 196 fielding chances with 3 errors.

This isn't a knock on Nunez like some like to make, it's more like why not play Holt against RH'ers, and Nunez against LH'ers. Holt is also a superior runner , given Nunez's knee problem but I see no lack of effort from Nunez.

Why does Cora favor Nunez?

Yankees don't have anyone in the lineup hitting above .290. Red Sox top 4 guys lowest average is Andrew B at .286. The rest of the lineups on both sides are comparable . The game last night showed better clustering of hits, and situational hitting by MY.

That's one big difference between Yankee pitchers and Sox pitchers. Gray throws a 95 mph fastball for a strike and followed it with a nice curve for another strike. Our guys like to "save" their breaking stuff for later. They like to spend the first inning establishing their authority with the fastball. Edited by Maxbialystock

They live on the corners. Tanaka and Gray are nibblers.

Goodness gracious, what the heck was that.

Not just a grandslam. Not just by Devers batting 6th. What I love is it was to that short porch in LF which was intended to benefit Yankees hitters.

Holy s***! I have to be low key here, but my heart was pounding out of my chest. LOL! And my wife was calling me as the ball left the park. How close did Gardy come to that ball? I am sitting next to an insane Gardy groupie/fan.

How bout' them short porches and low walls to Left and Right in Yankee Stadium. If you don't hustle in Fenway Park, you are struggling to turn that into a double. Way to go Rafi. Obviously Grey was not watching CC last night.

Looked like about 8 feet

Well, Martinez kept the inning going, as did Moreland and Betts, the Devers delivered the shot that Gray deserves. Sale finally has a big lead to work from and needs to throw a few shutdown innings first time through the NY lineup. Do not take your spikes off their throat.

Hate to say it was predictable , but Gray basically is useless against the Sox, and with over 30 pitches in the inning will put a load on the bullpen tonight.

That's all Sale should need.
i am a little worried about the heat, but Sale is from Fla. it is still 92 as of a few minutes ago and humid as hell. I could see Gray starting to wilt as that inning went on. He had nothing after the walk to Moreland.
