It’s amazing to me how much this team struggles against that fat f*** junkballer.

It’s called pitching. No two pitches in the same place, no two pitches at the same speed. More pitchers need to learn to do it.

He'll forever be a 5 inning guy unless he cuts down the pitch counts.

It would also help him to lose the A. Lincoln beard. His fastball only diet makes it look scruffy

He's having his best season. Lowest FIP and xFIP and best K rate. He just isn't hitting his spots tonight

Please don't be so condescending. I don't need a Yankem fan to tell me that E-rod is anything but a #5 starter.

He needs to work on his command. He doesn't have the consistent ability to stay out of the center of the zone. Hence, he nibbles and would rather miss off the plate than go into the zone. Tonight, he wasn't nibbling at all. Everything was center cut and he was creamed

This is how he pitches. The Yanks are just more patient.

The Yanks took a lot of center cut fastballs first time through. I've seen him against us before. He's usually outside corner and low with that mid 90s gas and then drops changeups out of the zone

Well the pitch that has made the biggest dif for Erod this year is the Change. If he can't throw it or won't throw it he becomes 2016, 2017, 2015 20whatever E-rod. He never could overpower anybody and only becomes a "pitcher" when he has an effective Change to work in regularly.

Well this team has a history of struggling with junkballers. This Sabathia’s past his prime but he has done a nice job pitching out the big fastball. Just mixing up his pitches.

Lot of generalizations there. Yes, he did miss on a few of his pitches, but not everyone as you seem to indicate. My problem with him is that when he gets ahead 0 and 2 he seems to try to get the hitter to swing at balls off the plate. Then its 3 and 2 and he has to come in or walk the batter. Bad idea. He has good velocity and a cutter that is pretty good. He does need to learn to pitch. Something CC seems to have done even though now his stuff is marginal.

Now a JDM blast here would make it a game again. Will Cora let Erod bleed or let Haley see the big time show ?

I guess running Erod back out there against the middle of the lineup is a "character building" lesson in lieu of No Mas
