Chris Sale BOS

(2-1, 2.14)

vs

Doug Fister TEX

(1-2, 2.88)

The way these two work on the mound, blink and you may miss the game. This will be fun to watch.

Take the series.....

Good point in the OP: I forgot how fast Fister works. My memory is he doesn't have great stuff but hits his spots well and mixes his pitches. Moreland for JBJ worked last night, so Cora might do it again. Sale and Fister are both tall.

Right now is almost like a pennant race with the Sox and Yankees neck and neck. Way early, but both were picked in the preseason to get to the postseason, have excellent hitting, and have above average pitching.

Funny thing that Hamels last night and Fister today are both 34 and rely on mixing up their stuff and keeping the ball low. Sox hit righties a whole lot better than lefties so far this year.

Sox currently have 7 bullpen arms, of which the worst is clearly Johnson, who is also the only lefty. This is unusual for a major league team, but might be explained by having 4 lefty starters.

I think this will be a fun pitching match up to watch.

Hopefully, Sale is back to being vintage Sale.

Sale has not been executing pitches lately. Hopefully he gets this figured out real quick.

He went 7 last time out and gave up 1 earned run. As I remember it, that was the Sox four error game: 2 by Vazquez, 1 each by Devers and Bogie. Hard for me to find fault with Sale.

Interesting lineup today. Moreland in, and so is JBJ. Leon catching Sale today. HanRam out. R/L/R/L/R/L/R/L/S, I am sure by design. I like it, in Cora we trust. 3 out of 4 sounds good, go Sox!

Interesting. Thanks.

This is the first time this season Sale has looked this comfortable. The ball is flying out of his hands free and easy. It helps when you live low and paint corners.

Hope it's nothing serious with Betts and I don't think it is. More than anything I'm sure its precautionary.

I hope so too.

My guess is he jammed his wrist when he started to slide into 2B. Although is happened fast, its uncomfortable when it happens and it lingers around for a bit. Hopefully that's it.

Meanwhile back in the Bronx, Cody Allen is getting ready to blow a 4-0 Guardians lead in the bottom of the 8th. Now 4-3 Guardians lead.
