Hopefully, Chris Sale, Star Wars Night and my at the game mojo will overcome this break with protocol.

They said earlier today that he would miss tonight, but will return to lineup tomorrow.

From where I was sitting, JD’s throw looked good. Did it short hop Vasquez and did it beat Perez?

Throw was good. One hop. Vaz tried to tag the runner before he had control.

EDIT - to be clear, yes it beat the runner.

Actually Vaz could not really make an effort to control the throw. An actual effort to just catch the ball naturally would likely have resulted in Perez just flat beating the throw. Vaz gambled and lost. But had he not gambled, he would have lost anyway.

It was still a nice throw from JD. Still does not change the obvious deficiencies JD has in the OF.

Fielders seem to be dodging more broken lumber this year than I remember for so few games played.

Ya you may be right, I was going by the second angle they showed where the ball was basically in his glove while he started to swing his arm over for the tag. Perez had slid so wide that Vaz had him tagged. My thinking is that if he was able to squeeze the ball he had him. Which actually is what you are saying if I understand (he didn't control the throw). So we probably agree.
