Mookie doesn't have to hit to his average to bring the runner home. A WP or a BB does it. With the bases loaded and the game tied, the pressure is much more on the pitcher than the batter.

Granderson was playing in as he should have been. All he had to do was field the ball cleanly. After that it was a short throw not requiring a strong arm.

Right, and Osuna was getting wild and the pressure is on him.

I'm not blaming cora, kimbrel gave up the bomb, but I am against pitching a closer in a tie game on the road. just doesn't seem logical unless there is a huge situation (2 on, no one out, bases loaded, etc)

So it really isn't a "rough patch" as you called it.

Devers is not a good 3b. He has 4 errors and didn't get one tonight. He botches the GB to allow 2 runs to score and he throws wild to the plate to allow the other to score. A good 3b keeps the Jays scoreless through 9

Can we talk about Porcello? 7IP 3 hits, all snuck by our half-assed infielders. 7 groundouts to 1 fly out. 9 strikeouts. He is easily our best starter at the moment.

You betcha. And I beat him up early in the game but later retracted. He is looking really good and it ain't no fluke.

Craig grooved a ball ...it's a loss .4 games up on yanks 3 on the Jays ...it's not bad is it ? Couple things going forward .....Swihart over Leon it's time ....quit chasing balls that never even start out in the zone ...stop with days off for hot hitters ....the streak was on the players the cold spell is on player and the rookie manager . Just saying you're overreaching calling them hitting a rough patch. I'd worried if our SP can't suddenly pitch.

It seemed very logical to me. It would have been criminal not to use Kimbrel at all, which you seem to favor if the Sox don't get the go ahead run in the top of an extra inning.

That GB that allowed two to score took a hell of a high bounce. I'm not sure many 3rd basemen make a play on that. At best you knock it down.

Porcello should have be out the inning before that.

the only play devers really messed up was the throw home that allowed a run to score. the one down the line was tough play. Nunez is an ass juice defender, he is never in right position, makes easy plays toughs, messes up so many double plays, misplays popups. hes an idiot out there. he has cost the sox numerous runs this year and doesn't get errors either, to make it even worse. he might be worst fielding 2b I have ever seen.

This is a rough patch. Listen, your team was playing over it’s head. The sox aren’t built to bludgeon teams the way they were. They were all peaking at the same time on offense. Your team is built to win games 4-3 or 2-1. Your GM went out and improved your club to hang in there when the pitching goes awry, but mostly, Your pitching will carry you. This is gonna be a dog fight for the division. We will be bludgeoning teams and hoping our pitching stays the course while you guys will be putting up a lot of zeros. It’ll be fun to watch.

That being said, Devers isn’t a 3b. If your club had the opening, he should be a 1b. The kid is going to be a great hitter, but he’s a serious defensive liability

Playing over our head ??? Trust me if anything we are without Xander and Pedey ...this team is better than you want to admit and I don't blame you for it .

Pedey and Xander out ...they are better ....no slight you folks are also .

I think our offense can bludgeon anyone too. Just right now they have a 3 game "skid" of not hitting, maybe 2 if you discount the half-assed Sunday lineup. Dombrowski didn't get JD to win 1 run games.

Can Cora do us a favor and remove Bennintendi from the 2-hole? The Yankees already did move their $300m dollar man down.

Boone was a dummy for stacking the two anyway. I heard David Cone talk about it on the telecast and he made a lot of sense and I assume Boone was aware of it too. Having two massive RHH players stacked allows a pitcher to figure out their angle quicker especially if they walk or allow a hit to Judge. Forcing a pitcher to change to the lefty, smaller stroke of Didi then adjust back to Stanton makes a lot of sense

This team would be exciting to me ...Have Nuney and holt swing in

This team has lost all their confidence since the no-no.

If only we had a leader in the locker room to snap these guys out of it.

This is ********. They fought back today to the final out and tied it up. Porcello was nail after a messy 2nd inning. Kelly the joker pitch 2 dominant inning.

Everytime we count Holt out, he does something good.

I've always felt Bogey looks like the perfect #2 hitter.

1 Betts

2 Bogey

3 HRam

4 JMart

5 Devers

6 Beni

7 Nunez/Pedey

8 JBJ

9 Vaz

I disagree.

We almost pulled this game out of our ass.

I agree: no way we have lost confidence. Infact, i think we gained some by tying the game in the 9th.

We have a formidable lineup and when Bogey gets back and Pedey also comes, we should get even better. We have depth with Nunez, Moreland, Swihart and either Lin or Holt. Of late we have been missing Bogaerts in the lineup and that has hurt our offense.

A question that I haven't as yet gotten my mind around is whether managing for the long haul by altering the lineup day to day to keep player fresher for the finish is the smart approach, at least as currently practiced on the Sox. We have done well to date so it a moot question but I wonder about the following:

1. Making major changes to our team on a daily basis results in mny days where we are weaker. If the opponent plays his best on those days are we at a disadvantage?

2. Are games won early in the season not as important as games won later? We might get a chance for a very long rest in October if we don't do our best in April and May.

3. Is there a goldilocks lineup where players feel most comfortable that can be disrupted with constant change?

Clearly we can face good pitching and be held down for a period. Also, the wear and tear of a long road trip can impact performance of some of the guys perhaps more than others. It will not get any easier for the next few days as the Blue Jays staff is good. Lets hope we can salvage a couple of games in Toronto before coming back to some home cooking.

You have a ten game run after the Jays that should net you guys some serious wins. TB, KC and TX. They’re 21-46 this far combined. After that, the season will toughen considerably

We thrive on tough competition.

BRING IT ON!

Ultimately I'd like to see Mookie move down a few spots so that he can hit home runs with men on base. Even just swapping Xander and Mookie in what you have above works for me.
