Benintendi leads the league in walks, which is interesting. He hasn't hit the ball at all yet, but it is funny to see a BA under .200 with an OBP over .400.

XB looks a bit wider than I have seen him in a uni ever. I know he worked on his speed last off season. Maybe he bulked up this off season. He definitely looks wider.

“Devers does not run all that well” - Remy

GTFO

Devers has one of the quickest sprint speeds on the team.

Geez the league seems to have JBJ figured out. Even when he hits it, its right into the shift and an out.

Xander is locked in right now. Absolutely killing the ball.

Could be. I just checked up-to-the-minute stats, and Bogaerts now leads the team in dingers, rbi's, runs, hits, OPS. SLG, doubles, and AVG. Looks like 5th is the right slot for him.

Meh. If he hits it hard, he will be fine.

Yeah, I'm not gonna complain about anyone on the team lining out, it sucks, but it happens. Mookie lined out more than anyone last year.

So far he hasn't hit it hard that often and a whole lot of them have landed in the glove of a guy that did not have to move an inch. I hate the shift.

Rays might end up losing 110-125 games. They have Archer and literally nothing else. They have the worst lineup I have ever seen. Their pen aside from Colome sucks. Their rotation outside of Archer sucks (Snell might come along). They decided to rebuild, then they lost 2 of their starting pitching prospects they were counting on.

They got lucky and won the first game Archer pitched despite an average performance at best. I haven't been with impressed with Archer yet in either of his starts

Jersey Shore blowout today. Let’s go!

Jersey Shore blowout.....good call!! It's well on its way to being just that.

Kiermaier "under the weather" today. Anybody that believes that Kiermaier under the weather is anything more than an off Friday in Boston and a bit too much of a party is living a fantasy.

I completely agree. Those first 8 games of a season are everything. By the same reasoning, I figure the Sox for 110-125 wins.

This game is all Porcello's. First he inspires the lineup to find their grooves. Now he's mowing the Rays down. This guy can do everything. Forget Sale and Price--Rick is our man.

It is a huge deal so you're right. The other thing is you play what is on your schedule regardless of the teams you play. I understand winning is against the Rays, Marlins and Rays again but these games aren't any less important at all.

Max, you have no idea who the sox are since they've only played teams jockeying for the 1st pick in the draft. I guess one could say the same thing about the Rays since all they've played are teams in title contention. But watching the games, they haven't been competitive beyond a Carson Smith/Joe Kelly meltdown

My first hope for Porcello was that he'd hopefully reach 5 innings considering his pitch count was just above the mid 3's at the end of the 2nd inning. Now Rick's pitches have sharpened up and now he's sitting on just 60 pitches in the 5th inning.

It's a nice thought but it's way too damn early in the season to say the Red Sox have found an identity for the entire 2018 season. I just like the fact Boston has done what they need to in starting the season.
