Tanaka really has reinvented himself. The backwards approach is certainly helping him. Sliders for strikes, 2 seamers for strikeouts, splitters when behind in the count. Hitters have no clue what is coming

Yeah, we haven't had our full complement of guys and I doubt Sanchez and Stanton hit under .200 collectively. This team will rake

I saw this interesting stat line on Stanton yesterday:

Giancarlo Stanton's riveting stat line so far:

3 HR, 2 doubles, 4 walks, 12 strikeouts, no singles.

It all computes to a 1.029 OPS for a guy who is 2 for 20, with 12 K's, when he doesn't hit the ball over the fence.

Fun with numbers!

It’s a SSS quirk. Stanton is a slow starter, as is Sanchez. Yesterday was the first game I can say, we were beaten. You go to Green there 10 times out of 10. The kid spit the bit. What are you gonna do

Great AB by Andujar there. 0 outs, runner on 2nd, he grounds out to 2b and gives a sac fly opp to Gardy. The kid can handle the bat, he just needs the chance

You don't let Andujar hit here. This kid is gonna K easy

Sounds a little contradictory.

IMO, if you're going to give him the chance, you have to give him the chance in high leverage moments as well.

I get that it's a SSS quirk. I just thought it was interesting.

A RH rookie free swinger against Day is an out all day long.

Pedro Alvarez just hit a game winning grand slam against the Yankees in the 14th lol.

Always a nice night when the bad guys lose.

Yup. That was a great game.

I had no faith at all in the Os pitching to win that game, but they held on against the vaunted Yankees lineup.

Gutless performance by Gary Sanchez to leave the game like that. Thurmon Munson never would have left that game.

Also, why wasn't A.Warren used? Did I miss something, is he hurt? Was this another troubling decision by Boone who appears to be in over his head?

Gray pitches around trouble. We hand a lead to the pen in the 7th. All you can really ask for. This weather has absolutely killed the power at the park. Andujar with a sac fly on a ball that would be out by plenty on a normal summer day

Warren came off an ankle injury but didn't get DL'd. I think they don't want to overuse him until he fully recovers. I don't have an issue with using Holder in the 14th. At that point, you just ride what you have

Good to see the offense tacking on. Too many games we have had a lead and the offense just stops. It helps the pitchers to know that the hitters have your back. It’s an entirely different ballgame when the pitcher feels the need to be perfect. Good win. Try for the split tomorrow.

We’re up by 2 with 5 predicted opening day starters either hurt or resting and Stanton looking entirely lost. Our starting pitcher allowed 12 baserunners in 4.1IP as well. How does this happen?
