I would have taken it either way, but it was nice to win the division by winning our game, rather than by 'backing into it' because of a Yankees loss.

I would too. We got blasted on Thursday night, but Friday's game was a good game that could have gone either way, and we got the W today. Didn't we beat them 2 out of 3 in Houston earlier?

You boo birds are all about 20-20 hindsight and of course ignore anything right the manager does--like insert Holt who made a great play and got 2 hits. You also seem not to care what the players do as long as you can blame something on the manager.

 

It's this simple: the Sox just won their 2d straight division title for the first time in their entire history and this year did it without the usual great hitting and despite a near collapse of the rotation. So you can second guess all you want to, but winning managers are keepers. Simple as that.

It's simple for the sox. They need to steal that first game come thursday. It's a short series. I know they can do that in game 2 but i will feel a lil better in this series if they strike first.

I watched Carson Smith and he appeared to have good stuff. Unfortunately he gave up a little tap hit and then they hit a couple of rockets. He did need to relieve for Carson, since the Astros seemed to be picking up his stuff.

Regular season series with these guys is 3-3. We definitely have the tools to compete with them and I'm still glad we play them and not Cleveland.

That was Holt's best game all year. I've been really hard on him all year. I'm glad he has looked good recently. I've given up on Young (maybe the last one to do so). I'm not too high on davis right now, except as a PR'er (for Pedey, HRam, Moreland or Leon). That makes Holt a strong candidate to make the playoff roster as our 4th OF'er and depth man.

 

I never thought I'd be saying that.

 

I'm not going to say anything bad about JF on a night like tonight. The team won the division and the crap shoot begins soon.

 

I'm happy I'll be at the first two playoff games in Houston.
