There was one out on that play. Wasn't there? The LF dropped the ball but got a force play at the plate. How is the inning over?

 

Bradley forgot to go to third and it was a force out.

Butterfield was doing nothing. he should have been yelling to Bradley to come to 3rd. As usual, he stood there with his hands t his sides looking confused.... but his workout charts for next spring training are already done and he will be the first one at the field in Ft. Myers.

Apparently, last night's game confused posters as much as it confused the RS baserunners. (such a bizarre play, I'm willing to give everyone a pass on that.) It's amusing to see posters get outraged about the baserunning even though it took them several minutes to understand what actually happened. Edited by jad

Who cares about lousy running in the rain? The Sox got out of the 6th with no one hurt and a 6-1 lead.
What does rain have to do with stupidity on the bases?

Meh. It's a blessing. Out of the inning with a 6-1 lead on no injuries in the rain. yes, JBJ forgot there was just one out when that fly was dropped and that he could therefore still be forced out at 3b for the last out. I don't care. Really.

Rain means the game should end shortly. It also means playing on this field is now hazardous. And, to be honest, I didn't realize JBJ could be forced out either. That was a very weird play because it was in fact hit to the outfield. Leon was out at home by a mile because he too reacted slowly.

So stupidity on the bases is fine as long as you win the game? Problem with that is that it will and has cropped up to cost us games. The coaches need to do their jobs. Does Butterball have vocal chords?

I can see all the runners reacting slowly, and there is no fault in Leon getting forced at 3rd, but there is no excuse for Bradley heading back to 2nd base after the ball was dropped. And Butterworth just standing there.
