Red Sox set rotation to get Chris Sale vs. Yankees three times in four weeks. He will go winless in those starts. Sale is done after 109 pitches in 4-1/3 innings tonight. In last three starts vs. Yanks, he gave up eight runs in 18-1/3 innings (3.93 ERA).

We'll get hot again. Still got 3 with OAK and 3 with CIN

Would you be surprised if they lose the division? This has been an inconsistent bunch. Nothing would surprise with this bunch.

Horrible series!!!! A chance to put them away. This team hasn't been able to distance themselves all season. These players need to start looking at themselves.

While I think this roster has serious flaws, not everyone can be the 2017 Dodgers.

The sox have been inconsistent, but they are being chased by an inconsistent team.

No comparison to Kluber. I wonder if the innings are catching up to him.

Yes I would be, because it won't happen

Lol I am not asking for that but just some consistency. This team has another dissapointing playoff exit on the horizon the way I see it. Players need to be held accountable along with the manager

This is what I hate about you guys. We have one horrible night, through both our fault and the umpires, and you guys automatically think we suck. LOOK. AT. THE. f***ING. STANDINGS. YOU. DUMB. f***FACES.

Exactly true. Holbrook made a lousy call on a ball/strike and it cost the Sox dearly. If that pitch had been a strike the Sox would have been out of the inning.

Holbrook 1, Red Sox 0.

Totally agree that bad umpiring on two separate strikes caused what followed.

Whoever you are, leave immediately and let Thunder back on the computer.

They just lost 3 of 4 against the Yanks. Cut some slack.

Sounds like sour grapes. It was a 1 strike pitch that he missed.

My bad. I thought it was a 2 strike pitch.

Reed wilted there. 7-1!

Wilted my ass. He had the third out or at least a 1-2 count if the umpire calls those balls strikes, which they were. That would have ended the inning with no runs scored. Don't believe me, the announcers agree those were both bad calls.

The message from the ump was clear as crystal. Throw in the middle of the zone or expect a ball to be called. That one at bat was a travesty and proof that bad ball and strike calls can change a game.

I think the Yankees probably win without those bad calls, but it still grates and I almost always defend umps. What torques me is that Reed pitched great in a very tough situatuion, and the ump took his strong suit--the ability to hit corners with the bases loaded--away from. It wasn't just once, it was twice.

The thing Sox could not absolutely do was get swept. That DH loss and the extra inning loss to Seattle that Friday night will haunt them.

Thanks Sox for breathing life into the Yankees playoff hopes, you miserable bunch of cancer.

You do realize they were probably going to make it anyway...?

You're the one who is not looking. We know the Sox still have the lead, but the Yankees are now back in it when all we had to do was split. Worse, our pitching now looks suspect, and our hitting remains so. Some of us actually thought the good guys would get past the ALDS This year. Do you think that right now?

I always thought the Yankees were good for the wild card. Are you confident that can't take the AL East? Are you fine with the Sox as a wild card?

Yes. Sox-Astros ALCS. Cleveland is too hot right now. They're going to fizzle out like we did. Baseball is a game of ups and downs. I genuinely believe we will take them if we matchup in the ALDS. If it's Sox-Astros ALDS instead, that makes things a little harder, but I feel like we got it covered.

Thanks Farrell and f*** Robby Scott.

I didn't want Scott when he went in and said so, but most managers would have brought in a lefty with 2 lefty batters coming up. Scott simply did not man up. Forget the single to Ellsbury. He had an 0-2 count to Gardner and threw 4 straight balls, none of which were close.
