While Kimbrel may not be dominant Kimbrel in 2018, I don't think he can easily be replaced. This guy's career has been off the charts excellent.

Yeah but 90M for a reliever is steep. That's what the Yankees signed Chapman to.

I am not saying that we should seek another Kimbrel. I am just saying that he is a very rare performer. Even if you wanted to blow the budget, I am not sure that a Kimbrel would be available in 2019. He is that good.

It's kind of early to think about extending a relief pitcher.

 

He could turn into average and be a waist of money just like anyone.

 

I agree that he has been elite at his position for many years.
