Young mashes lefties. They bring in a tough lefty specialist and Young remains nailed to the bench. WTF Farrell.

I don't blame him for leaving Benintendi in, he's one of our only guys hitting and Benintendi already had 2 hits tonight including a home run.

Not against a lefty. Young mashes lefties and it is why he is on the roster.

Well Rodriguez pitched ok but you have to be perfect at times with this offense.

He was good, defense once again wasn't very helpful either.

There is no centerpiece in this lineup -- no one who scares pitchers.

True but boy i didn't expect it to be this terrible. It's a joke really. They have to be careful here. You don't wanna play catchup early on in the season.

This offense right now isn't good enough to compete.

True but you can't feel sorry for yourself. Nothing can be done. Ortiz won't be coming back through that door. Go out there and try and get some good swings!

40 HRs, 115 RBI and .401 OBP is sitting on hi couch in the DR replaced by a .317 OBP guy. That wasn't going to cut it. This team has to be lights out with its pitching to win. Maybe when Price comes back we will go on a run.

The pitching isn't the issue at all, its the offense. E-Rod gave another quality start tonight and the offense provided 1 run on a solo home run against a bum Phil Hughes. This after being shut down by Tyler Wilson..

You go with what you have. Listen the offense has been bad but the record could be a lot better. One day it's the offense and another it's the pitching. This team's just going through the motions and i think they're pressing as well.

I agree that the pitching is not the issue. It is the strength of the team, but it is going to have to be near letter perfect for this team to win consistently. That is why I mentioned a possible run when we get back one of our big studs --Price.

Its mainly just been the offense. Sox have 3rd best team ERA in baseball. One spot in the rotation has sucked but the other 4 and the bullpen have been good. Offense is 26th in runs right now, which is horrid

Replacing Wright/Kendrick with Price no doubt will be a big boost, but I'm not sure it'll be enough with how bad this offense is. Top 5 is good, but two are singles hitters (Xander and Pedroia) and one guy is absurdly streaky (Hanley), bottom of lineup is awful, especially with the way JBJ is hitting and with Moreland regressing back to around his career norms.

I know on this site we jokingly say we'd be okay with JBJ hitting .200 with his defense.

Were we serious?

No. He is one of those extremely streaky guys. We should have sold high on him after last season.

You mean right before he gets red hot?
