The regular season and the post season are two completely different animals.

At any rate, nothing can be concluded from a 3 game series.

Nothing can be concluded. However, I don't think we should be worried about having a tough stretch. This team needs to be good enough to win a tough series at home without all of us wetting our pants.

People are just commenting that we have 2 tough series coming up. No one's wetting their pants.

Some possible ideas to get this team on track:

1) DL Bogey and play Nunez at SS for 10+ days, and add Brentz to the 40 man and call him up..

2) DL Moreland and call up Travis

3) Platoon Young with Beni as the Moreland platoon vanishes.

4) Send Vaz to AAA and call up Dan Butler (.752 OPS in AAA)

5) Replace JF

6) Change the line-up (assuming no Bogey or Moreland for the next 10 days):

vs RHP

1. Nunez SS

2. Pedey 2B

3. JBJ CF

4. Betts RF

5. HRam 1B

6. Beni LF

7. Devers 3B

8. Brentz DH

9) Leon C

vs LHPs

1) Nunez SS

2) Brentz or Young LF

3) Pedey 2B

4) Betts RF

5) HRam DH

6) JBJ CF

7) Travis 1B

8) Devers 3B

9) Butler C

Our derp manager batted them 3-4 for a huge portion this month.

It's his biggest flaw.

His so-called loyalty is killing us.

Moreland was playing over his head in April and May. He had no previous qualifications to bat anywhere near 4th. At least Bogey had some previous cred.

Realistic view.... if Price is out for a month or two and you don't upgrade either the rotation or the offense, there's a good chance you're the second wild card

I humbly disagree.

I think the Sox may be the odd team out.

hot take man. We played 2 month without Price. 2 without EdRod as well already.

Your offense wasn't this bad when Price was out

It's not this bad now either.

All teams go through team slumps.

We're busting out tonight!

This from MLBTR...

The financial details of the surcharge thresholds were previously known. If a team spends above $217MM in 2018, it will receive an extra 12% tax in addition to the usual 20%, 30% or 50% luxury tax. If a team spends over $237MM, it will receive an extra 42.5% or 45% surcharge tax.

Beginning in 2018, there will be an extra penalty for teams in that second category, Cooper notes. A team that spends above $237MM will also have its top draft pick lowered ten spots, unless that pick is in the top six, in which case the team’s second pick will be lowered ten spots.

We are busting out without Pedey and with Bogaerts and Moreland? Pedey was hot for a while before the Price incident. Now he is not able to play. Good luck to us.

What is it going to take for this offense to put runs consistently on the board?

Solid production from the middle of the order?

Mookie to get hot?

Hanley hitting taters?

A trade for a power hitter?

Funny part right now is Nunez is a hot hitter in the small sample size we have and Devers is doing well for a rookie. I couldn't believe that Bogaerts got a walk and a single but both times was thrown out on running plays. That has cost us runs tonight. Can't understand what is going on with him. At least some of the Sox are showing some fight tonight.

Xander's "hit" was due to Cahill not covering 1b

Where are all the freaking idiots not wanting to simply try out Devers? He may get sent down between now and whenever, BUT THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON NOT TO BRING HIM UP. He looks more mentally tough than Xander ever will be.

Devers delivered a clutch hit tonight. Unbelievable that a 20 year old is literally carrying all our hopes for this season.

Meanwhile our young veteran hitters are zombies.

Thank god for Nunez and devers!

Ps: keep chili away from them else they become zombies.

Nunez may be that veteran player we needed. As good as the killer bees can be, they might have been too use to having big Papi to protect them. Some players can't handle being the team leader and put too much pressure on themselves.. Others thrive in that situation.. Just saying..

Just because our other hitters have been in a slump. doesn't mean they will continue slumping.

Busting out tonight!

A long hot streak to follow.

Nunez and Vazquez break out tonight and the pitching goes in the toilet!

This team right now just doesn't look into it. Like they want the season to end already. It started on that west coast trip and it has been a swoon ever since.

We'll find the groove again (I hope).

I still wish we'd make a managerial change, but I doubt it happens, so we have to think our players will have to pull themselves out of this by themselves.

Totally agree. If you know in your heart that the players are under performing for what ever reason, you have to look at why. JF is okay, but just not the best in game manager I have ever seen. Sometimes the players are a reflection of the manager.

$171M for 19 players

$12M for other 21 players (assuming no FA signings)

--Marrero, Lin, Velazquez, Martin, N Ramirez, H Owens, Elias, Selsky (or Rule 5 additions)

This leaves us quite a bit of money to spend on a FA or two without going over the luxury limit by too much.

..and sometimes, even if the manager is okay or good, a change can light a spark with the team.
