I think that it is really about people being butt-hurt that Last Place Benny Boob got canned. For them DD can do nothing right. He has put together the best top three rotation pitchers in a Red Sox uniform in my lifetime -- one who is extremely underpaid -- and somehow the world is coming to an end. They are like those religious fanatics who were convinced that the world would come to an end on a specific date. I just don't get it.

Why don't you try sticking to baseball rather than attacking other posters, which you claim you never do unless attacked first?

My sentiments exactly. I've softened a little on Kimbrel, but not on Espi.

I loved the Sale, Thornburg and Ziegler trades. The Smith trade was good. I disliked the Hill trade. I hated the Kimbrell and Espi trades.

Overall, I'm fine with what DD did. I'm also fine with what Ben and Theo did.

I love the team we have right now, I just wish we hadn't done the two deals I hated.

I pretty much agree with all of this.

Precisely.

If anything, a lot of us who were against the Pomeranz trade (and were subject to a lot of "You just never want to trade any prospects" type straw-manning as a result) seem to be pretty okay with the Sale deal. I'll leave it to the 700 Club to figure out why that is.

I've seen a range of nuanced opinions on the trade, but very little outright opposition (I feel like Kimmi has been one of the most vocal against, though I wouldn't want to speak for her), and certainly nothing approaching "hate" for Sale himself. Whatever one thinks of Dombrowski, his strategy, or the long-term impact on the system, there's no denying that we should be a much better team for the next 3 years with Sale in a Red Sox uniform.

Precisely times two.

FTR, I don't even hate Dombrowski.

What strawman do you speak of exactly?

There are several posters who keep lamenting the catastrophic damage done by DD and these people have beaten that tired topic to death.

Very few posters have countered this misery fest because they simply think that it is foolish.

Lighten up Brah.

Name names. That's what I'm talking about.

Many of us have been critical of the amount of gutting of the farm by DD but love the Sale deal.

It's not a contradiction.

They need to get some perspective.

You mean get your perspective or go Eff ourselves,

Gottcha.

For some of us, we are quite capable of enjoying the here and now, and yes we get laid often, but can also have a deeper perspective that involves looking at the future and determining what consequences today's actions might have on it.

To me, that's "perspective".

It's just not yours.

One name is yours. I get it. DD has done what Kimmi feared. The farm is somewhat depleted and there is legitimate concern for our prospect development pipeline.

Still, the subject is minor and of little consequence now and of questionable magnitude going forward.

Why keep saying the same stuff over and over and over again?

It's boring and offers no ideas on how to right the problem at all.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't hate either Price or Sale. I am thrilled to have both on my team.

Then stop the constant hand wringing posts which are overwhelming in number compared to the optimistic posts about our team. It seems like this is a message board for the Phillies. Get some balance. You are not balanced at all in posting about this team.

I don't know of anyone who does. I've taken issue with some (not all) of his moves, but at this point I'm perfectly content to buckle down and see how things play out, and I think that's true for most people.

Let's try sticking to baseball in this decade.

We got your perspective on this trade in your first 100 posts about it. We get it, but you beat the thing to death, and if people disagree with you, you inundate them with lists of prospects and other stuff and then you go on with another 100 hand wringing negative posts. We get your point. The only thing good about your incessant obsessive negativity about the Sale trade is that it finally got you off the Pomeranz trade. Yes , perspective is needed.

There's not a lot else going on right now to talk about, so what's the harm of having a civil discussion about it?

If you don't want to join the discussion, then don't.

There is no need to attack someone else who does.

You should know that I'm one of the most positive posters around, so much so that I've been called a homer or a pollyanna more times than I can count. For anyone to now paint me as a whiner or a negative person is laughable.

Oh, but I am extremely balanced.

What does that even mean?

You are skirting the issue.

You attacked posters unprovoked. You are at fault here. Just stop.

Not from where I sit.

Well as I've told you before, when the debate is lost, the loser resorts to personal attacks.

It's all you have.

We have a kick ass team and the whole tenor of this board is negative. That is my observation.

I am not attacking you at all. Go through your own posts, and tally up how many have been positive and how many negative. It is my perception that you are very negative. That is not a personal attack. It is my perception.

One name is yours.

You couldn't be more wrong, and this is the point I've been making all along. Almost everyone here likes or loves the Sale trade, except Kimmi, who might have loved it had we not already traded away so much of the future before that trade.

That is the straw man. One person is kind of against the Sale trade, and yet some clown is acting like there's a groundswell of DD haters, Sale haters and Price haters. It's just not true.

The Sale deal is the deal I have dreamed of for over 40 years. I LOVE IT!

No, unfortunately you don't "got it". You repeatedly mistate my position and link me with others that are critical of DD or the Sale trade.

I LOVE the Sale trade.

How hard is that to understand?

You love it IN A VACUUM... RIGHT?

Many have been negative about the long term future of the team, but not about the three window.

Much of the continued postings are in response to continued responses saying or implying things like this:

"The future will take care of itself."

"What's the use in worrying about the future?"

"Nobody knows for sure how these prospects will do, so trading them is near harmless to the future,"

"The farm will be rrebuilt in three years.:.

No, clown!

That was Kimmi!

I love the trade no matter what.

I'm happy with the totality of DD;s trades, unlike Kimmi.

I'd take back the Pom trade and probably the Kimbrel trades, but they have nothing to do with the Sale trade.

I've never said otherwise.

I'm happy as s*** with the team we have.

There's no vacuum for me. I never said anything related to a vacuum.

I hated the Pom trade.

It's people like you who keep making me repeat my position, because you got it wrong, then blame me for posting my opinion 100 times.

"Clown"? You just have no idea about the perception you create.

Of course not. You never insult or attack people. You always have proper justification in your mind for calling people names, which makes it okay for you to do.

Just make sure that no one else does it, because they would be completely out of line. Unless, of course, it's someone who agrees with you.

I hope the perception I'm creating is that others see me as a person at a circus watching a clown.
